Does Rooney now deserve a bit more respect?

If I were him, I'd be back at Ebepton sooner rather than later. He has nothing to prove, except maybe moving to become the odd English guy out in Spain for a season or two.

In reality, he doesn't need to even do that though. He's clearly recognised as one of the best of his generation, his chances of international success aren't impacted by his club selection as England are so badly gash that he could play for Yeovil for the rest of his career and still be an automatic starter.

He has money, trophies, but he doesnt have the two things left that would matter - winning a trophy at Everton and becoming a bonafide Everton legend.

lets hope you are right :)
And after seeing foxes comment about Rooney, im seriously hopeful.

He looked like he was going to celebrate on the first one yesterday, then remembered he shouldn't. He did a bit more on the second, but let's face it - it was probably relief more than anything - it was a huge game for them. Definitely showed a bit more intelligence than we've seen previously on the pitch with regard to Everton, in line with some of the other things we've seen this season.

I can see rooney back at 29. His contract is set to expire in June 2015, so Utd could get a small fee for him that January, if they knew his intentions to leave. By that time he will have played for them for 10 years and got his testimonial, probably got himself to the top of their goalscoring charts (barring any major injuries), and won everything there is to win thrice and more, and can still come back to Everton with a contribution to make to the team.

He's been collecting MASSIVE wages for many a season now, coupled with all of the sponsorship deals he'll be on, he could afford to come back and play for nothing (he wont, though!) - but it should mean he can slip into our wage structure without too much wrangling. This for me will be when Rooney REALLY shows his maturity and respect for Everton FC - if he tells his agent that he'll play for us on what we can afford - as I'm sure there'll be clubs queueing around the block offering millions for his services.

I'm still kinda hoping it was a Rooney/Moyes masterplan to drain all the money out of Manchester over a 10 year period, and come back and buy the club with the proceeds!

been fuming for years over him but i think its time to move on now,'he was just a kid all kids make mistakes' true like. never off done it myseld. kissing the badge done it for me but like peoples said hes matured and didnt make a fuss out off it this time. think we should only be arsed about oursels as blues, sticking with us an let any trator do what they want because there obviously not a true blue. kid still wears everton kits like an cheers us on, on twitter an that so maybe it was just a 'mistake.. time will tell if he comes back. an yeah we got big money not as much as should of like but still. and he is world class probly get in any team every player that knows there good enough to be sucessfull and get trophys will go for it. but a big fan at a club with potential, well i think we have. not sure, but not worth getting pissed off over now its long gone, its just the 'what if we had him now ' blabbin on a bit now i know. haha

give the lad a break now. He knows he was in the wrong kissing the badge etc but it was in the face of some nasty abuse. Move on, grow up and welcome him back in a few years with open arms.

The chances are at 28 he will seek out his huge final pay deal. I can't see him running his contracted down to nothing with United to join us.

Despite Fox and LCAB telling you otherwise ? Interesting.

He doesn't need a 'huge final pay deal', he gets over £20m a season already.

And besides, Fergie has a strict regimen, once you hit 30 your contract is renewed on a yearly basis, i doubt he'll change that for Rooney so he won't be signing another big contract.
