Hi everyone, just a quick question I need to ask. Say if you read something about someone or something online do you automatically believe it? What about a print based magazine or a newspaper that you can physically touch? Does the fact that you can physically hold it in your hands increase the likelihood that you take what it says more seriously over something you read on a random website?

It's for a uni project, I need to collect some data and opinions. Cheers. :)

It's just for a journalism project at uni. Got to decide if we're going to produce online magazine or a print one but if I show some signs of research like this I'll get a higher grade.

The medium makes no difference, it's the credibility of the organisation that published it & / or the author of the piece that would influence how likely I was to accept it as 'fact'.

So would I more readily accept the online or newspaper offerings of a quality daily publisher over a jarg one? well yes of course, but the medium on which I read the piece wouldn't make a jot of difference.

I tend to believe it less if it's written behind an anonymous username. I'd advise against using GOT in any form of academic research :)

Online stuff is full of belerts and people hiding behind a keyboard to spread dross.

I give consideration to it if there is evidence of proper research and comes from a decent source.

But in short NO

This every time.
