I was gutted about the release of players like Mark Hughes (not the QPR manager), Lukas Jutkiewicz, Orenuga and Forshaw in recent times. This just adds to the growing list of players with 'potential' who are binned without a chance.

Yeah same here really. I always thought Nsiala looked a decent prospect too. Duffy needs some more games next year I reckon.

Mark Hughes
2005–2007 Everton 1 (0)
2006 → Stockport County (loan) 3 (0)
2007–2009 Northampton Town 93 (4)
2009–2010 Walsall 26 (1)
2010–2011 North Queensland Fury 30 (4)
2011– Bury 26 (1)

Lukas Jutkiewicz
2005–2007 Swindon Town 38 (5)
2007–2010 Everton 1 (0)
2008 → Plymouth Argyle (loan) 3 (0)
2009 → Huddersfield Town (loan) 7 (0)
2009–2010 → Motherwell (loan) 33 (12)
2010–2012 Coventry City 67 (18)
2012– Middlesbrough 19 (2)

Theres a reason they are binned, I will give you a clue, it ryhmes with cash.

Moyes record on released young players is faultless.

Ruddy is probably the big exception.

Wouldn't 'academy player of the year' suggest that Forshaw showed it?

I await with baited breath as his career unfolds.

Just like the 06 Winner Scott Phelan, who is currently playing in Conference North after spells at such MASSIVE Clubs such as Vauxhall Motors and Halifax Town.

Or the 07 Winner Shaun Densmore, also currently playing Conference North.

Or the 08 Winner James McCarten, currently ripping up the Welsh Premier League for Aberystwyth Town.

Can you see where im going with this?

Don't forget, this player has not been 'binned' or 'released'.

It sounds to me that we wanted to keep him but he wants first team football at 18 -- which Moyes states he wouldnt achieve with us.

However, the bizarre fact is that we've had him on loan for 2 seasons and he has apparently done very well for the reserves, now he's going back to Sporting which begs the question 'Why loan him in the first place'?

If he is a potential England centre back then 6mil would be a good price....if we dont have the money then Im fairly sure we could have sold to buy him as he would have been deemed a good investment.

Jags, Heitinga and Distin are no spring chickens and with Yobo out the door soon + Duffy still needing to be brought in I would have elected to sign him

Ruddy is probably the big exception.

Ruddy wasnt released tho, he was sold, probably due to the fact that I doubt even now he would be a regular, I mean possibly he could be challenging Howard for a spot, but im fairly sure he wouldnt have improved as much by playing a Sub for the last 2 Years.

There comes a time where they need to be playing first team football. Moyes probably felt that Jutkiewicz didn't develop how he would have hoped. I'm sure they would have liked to have kept Forshaw, Mustafi and Dier but they all felt that they would break into the starting eleven quicker somewhere else.

I really don't see what the big fuss is with this.

He was never our player and he was loaned to us to aide his development.

And he wants to play first team football at 18. I think his ego is getting the best of him; for £6million its to much of a gamble for someone with nothing than potential

We sold Jutkiewicz and Forshaw for an "undisclosed fee". Some players are told that they're not good enough and other players want to be playing more quickly than Moyes thinks is right. I'd probably side with the players in the end. Iain Turner for example could probably have been back up keeper to Howard for his whole career and then as soon as Howard retires Moyes would bring someone else in rather than promoting from within.

6m for somebody, provided we retain our current CBs, that wont see first team football for at least 3 Years.

That our academy under Moyes is ****ing awful at producing even the lowest level of Premier League player?

Forshaw won reserve player of the year not Academy, my bad.

So the past winners would be:
2012 Adam Forshaw
2011 Jose Baxter
2010 Shane Duffy
2009 Kieran Agard
2008 John Irving
2007 John Irving
2006 Victor Anichebe
