David Moyes, Derby record against Liverpoo.

Played 0 Won 0 Drawn 0 Lost 0

In all seriousness over Moyes reign this and last season is the only time I'd say it's reasonable to expect us to tonk them. If he barms it again this season, then I probably won't change my mind about him ever.

He hasn't won a trophy, he hasn't won a game at anfield, he hasn't won a game at old trafford, he hasn't finished higher in the league than 4th, he's only taken us to one cup final.

Has he done a decent job, yeah by and large he has. And as a reward for that he is one of the best paid and best treated managers in the world who has a job security that 99% of his peers would kill for despite having won nothing. We're fortunate to have had him but he is far far more fortunate to have had us.

And if there's no manager in the world who with a club like everton (the fourth biggest in the country) could do better than no trophies and an average finishing position of 7th then football is finished as a sport and we might as well pack up and go home.

Good stuff, that was my opinion. name me one?, he has earned his security, we may be the fourth biggest team in the country but what has that to do with anything, do you think clubs sell to clubs because of their historical stature or player join clubs for their historical stature because I dont they join for money and Moyes has a net spend of 6 OR 7 million and if you wanna take a look down the list of all trophy winners in that time ,other than Wenger, their is not a manager who has won something with his lack of spending capabilities, get in the real world, Chelsea spend 500 million and win league city the same, utd spend similar over longer period and win **** loads, we wont compete on a regular basis for trophies whilst we are so skint, as it effcets us in 2 ways, we cant buy and we cant keep our better players. As I say can you name someone who could either do a better job over the last 10 years or someone who could take over today who will lead us to more glory, KEEP IT REALISTIC

Well that means **** ALL too, I could post you 10 stats that would suggest Moyes has been brilliant for Everton, and should I do that what would that mean, that I'm right and he is wrong? no anti Moyes would accept that but FFS in my book anyone who would want Everton without Moyes is wong and they can never suggest someone who would have done an equal job or better in the last 10 years or indeed the furture. If stats are your thing then Im sure there are 10 good ones that prove how good moyes is

Well actually that argument has been done to death mate so i guess you missed it, and i ain't going through it all again, especially in this thread a but to sum up numerous names from world football have been mentioned and every single one of them dismissed by people like you regardless of any well rounded argument as to why any other manager could have done as well if not better than Moyes if given the chance. And i ain't going through it all again, especially in this thread.

Although i woudl be interested to know why you, as seemingly a fan of Moyes, thinks that while you;re right to say he has done a very good job here in 10 years for us he does have such a pathetic derby record? Surely if he's as good as you say, and indeed his record overall through the years suggests he is he wouldn't have such a bad derby record.

I don't think there's a manager in world football that EFC could attract to the job that could in all honesty. I'm wating for the game to change before we do anything of note.

We should have done much better in the cups though.

Souness at Blackburn, McCliesh at Birmingham and McClaren at Boro. All pretty awful managers, all managed to do what Moyes' defenders claim is impossible.

Hell even Dalglish managed to reach more finals and win more cups and away derbies in one year than Moyes has done in his entire career and he had a worse team at his disposal than Moyes does.

And that's if I constrain myself to english football and ignore the skint teams showing up the megarich in france, spain and elsewhere. Montpellier, for example.

Goodison 11 Won 4 Drawn 0 Lost 7 Biggest defeat 3-0 Biggest win 3-0
Anfield 10 Won 0 Drawn 5 Lost 5 Biggest defeat 3-0 Biggest win 0-0
Wembley 1 Lost 1

Total
Won 4 Drawn 5 Lost 13 :(

We are defo due a win like!!!

Total record
218 RS 88 Drawn 64 Everton 66 Difference 22
Total record without Moyes
196 RS 76 Drawn 59 Everton 62 Difference 14

Bored, so thought I would do this.

fair point I would much rather be in all afore mentioned clubs position than ours, top blue

You're missing the point, mate. Those teams are awful and have awful managers, they couldn't even manage to not get relegated.

And yet they've done something Moyes couldn't. Surely that tells us that he's worse in cups than he should be. The list of lower league teams to knock us out tells us that too.

I'd quite happily finish 12th rather than 7th if we could get a manager who can win when it actually mattered (cup games derbies etc). League position is meaningless unless you're in the top 4 or bottom 3.
