December GOT Player of the Month

If November was a topsy-turvy month for Everton Football Club, December with Sam Allardyce in charge was largely anything but.

Eight games played, four wins, three draws and one loss with twelve points gained with only four goals conceded is pretty much exactly what the doctor ordered to steady the ship and set the Blues, hopefully, on a much better course for the second half of the season, and equally hopefully with a really proactive January transfer window to boost the squad.

And with the upturn in results and some degree of form for the team as a whole, so too came some exceptional personal performances duly reflected in increased numbers of votes cast in the respective Man of the Match polls.

Including the final game of the Europa League campaign, a game that saw a number of debuts for academy players, December saw no fewer than thirty one players used with only Morgan Schneiderlin appearing in all eight games.

In those eight games, you the GOT electorate cast your votes in such a way that six players won individual games – Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Ademola Lookman, Mason Holgate, Idrissa Gana Gueye with Jordan Pickford and Jonjoe Kenny both taking two games.

Once again, we’d like to stress that all your votes really do count and would encourage you to vote as quickly as possible due to the compressed nature of the fixture list this season, polls will/may only be open for a few days due to the next game coming very quickly afterwards.

And so to the result and as is customary... in reverse order and third place, congratulations go to the hard-working Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

In second place and benefiting from four clean sheets and only the four goals conceded in December was Jordan Pickford.

And the GOT Player of the Month for December with almost 24% of the votes cast is a young man widely being touted as a potential future Everton captain, congratulations go to...
Jonjoe Kenny.

Good article this. Given he had a couple of wobbles in his early season, the commitment shown to him by Unsy and BFS is paying off. I'd love it if this lad grows into the Coleman mould. Great stuff.

Calvert-Lewin and Kenny?

We're in big trouble.
It"s a reflection on the seasin as a whole. The inexperienced kids are at least standing up and being counted.

The experienced players, Rooney excepted, have been a load of gutless cowards.

The kids may or may not turn into top class players and god knows they aren't yet ready for the amount of football being forced upon them. But if it wasnt for them we would be right down with the likes of Albion and Swansea now.

Well done Jonjo. Fully deserved.

Calvert-Lewin has been awful though
