I’ll give him a pass on some things. Under Ronnie the only place ever to pass a ball was sideways or backwards 3 yards because everyone was in the same 8x8 square. Let’s see how he is through the end of the season.

The problem I have is there just has not been anything in any of his performances to suggest there is a premiership player in there

If you see him actually take more than two touches of the ball rather than try and get rid as fast as possible, let me know

Back to ajax in an 8m deal january I reckon

Close. Loaned out to another English PL club in January till the end of the season; just to see if indeed he can hack it in England. If not, back to Ajax / another Continental league in the summer. If he performs, he may yet have another life with us next season.

Similar to Niasse last winter. Hopefully by the time January rolls around, Swansea / Crystal Palace / Brighton / West Ham won't be our relegation rivals.

I realise the contempt in your response, Tim, is aimed at the player and not me so I shaln’t take offence.

He’s been the target of much of my frustration too, quite rightly I believe, with his lacklustre contribution since his arrival.

However, for reasons I’m not prepared to disclose, I’m more than willing to give him a second chance.

He's been utterly gash, can't argue.
I would still like to see him in a team with movement and forward runners around him.

He finds space and moves the ball on with 1 touch, taking out defenders with that 1 touch pass, that's what we saw him do in all the you tube vids while playing for ajax. That movement just hasn't been happening.

Apart from Rooney and Pickford this sums up many Everton performances thus far for me. However, be interesting to see now as Unsworth will bring some intensity play back in, if indeed he figures in the first team. Hope he scores 2 tonight and puts us in the next round, be very happy for him.

Think he needs some time to adjust to the league's physicality, and we haven't exactly played to his strengths with the very static football we've played.
At his best with movement around him and some swift one touch stuff played.
I'm going to wait till he has a season behind him before saying he's crap.

I'm willing to give him a chance to prove himself with an actual manager who plays formations and uses tactics but right now I think everyone would agree he's below Rooney, Sigurdsson, Davies, Schniederlin, Gueye, Barkley and Vlasic in players who can play in any of the central midfield positions.

He is also a really good presser of the ball.

Issue is, we only ever (or have done anyway) press in one's or two's, rather than as a whole team.

So Klaassen will drive forward, press the oppo, but they'll be nobody backing him up, which means there's a simple pass on for them and Klaassen looks like a div and there's now a huge gap where there's no players.

You have to press as a unit. It's key to being successful.

Look at City. They win the ball back with such speed and ferocity, because there's always three players around the ball at any time.

I think that's even more damning. Unless he's in the bubble wrapped safe environment of Ajax, protected and coddled , he can't produce the goods. This isn't Ross Barkley going to The Emirates one week and being boss then going away in the lower rounds of the cup and leathering it in from 30 yards; this is archetypal Snivelley behaviour

THe same 'Snivelley' who is now one of the best in a very good Watford team? Perhaps its something to do with coaching.Even the best players need to be coached/managed.

It's not 'trying to get rid' though ffs

He hasn't got the turn of pace or skill set to skin players like Ross or Davies can

His primary asset is his one-two touch passing. But he needs to have players around him working in sync - and while Rooney and Gylfi can both do it, neither are runners off the ball - like Davies, Barkley and McCarthy are.

I'm not excusing Klaassen for his poor start. His issue has been he hasn't looked to adapt his game slightly by learning to hold the ball a second or two longer on occasion, but you're criticising him for something he's actually very good at.

If the entire team/squad starts playing with confidence, you'll see better from Klaassen, Sandro, Gylfi et al.

He's not though Steve, he scored a late winner against Arsenal and that's it.

United fans hated him, we hated him, Watford fans will see through him eventually. Have a look at the first 40 pages or so of the original Snivelley thread and see how he pulls the wool over the eyes.
