He's a very good player.

But the system isn't right for him and he definitely needs time to settle.

Should never have started yesterday. There was no need - not with Davies in the form he's in.

Koeman's a tit at the moment.

Needs movement and strikers around him, agreed. Not his fault.

He was bought as a Lampard type, not overly skillful but good engine, keeps the ball simple and moving and arrives late into the box to get goals.

The problem is that our lack of creativity and pace means that he cant arrive late into the box as we very rarely get near the oppositions box (as proven by lack of shots on target/goals etc). Also the play is so congested in the middle there is no space to find as Rooney and Sigurdsson (our supposed wide forwards) like to take up the same space around the box too.

He dwells on the ball a bit but also shows some lovely 1 touch lay offs and passes around the corner. He has got the technical ability to make it work, he just needs time to adjust. It doesnt help him or the team if the fans get on his back.
????????????????????????????????????????

I keep on seeing people say how he never stops moving. Didn't see yesterday's match as I was flying back from Oktoberfest but, in all the other matches, I never really NOTICE him moving. I still don't think he's a terrible player but we bought him, Rooney and Gylfi. TWO would be pushing it, 3 is making 1 a complete waste of money.

Willing him to have a good game, think Koeman needs to bench him for the weekend and let him build his confidence off the bench and starting cup games.

It's everyone elses fault he isn't thriving, he is so intelligent he is currently four moves ahead of his teammates, so while it might look to an untrained eye like he is utter wham and a complete waste of money, it is actually everyone else that is failing him
He's moved to a new country which can take some people more time to adapt to than others. He's also come from a team that tends to dominate matches to one that hasn't had much of a sniff of the ball for large parts of a fair few games we've played.

Give him time.

He might still end up failing and being a waste of money, but he looks like a clever enough player between the lines that if we start to click, preferably under another manager, he will come good. He would have been a good addition to our attack in RMs first season.

He has the odd nice touch and pass, but it is worrying that he continues to get run off the ball, outmuscled, outpaced and generally going missing for large periods.

And it's not like he's up against world beaters, this is against Bournemouth at home ffs.

A perfect example is Mkhitaryan last year mate.

Not that they're the same player, but he needed time to adapt. He got it.

Koeman has said the same about our new signings, yet isn't giving them the time off the pitch to beef up - physically and mentally - to play in the PL.

It doesn't matter who it's against. The intensity is so much higher.

Klaassen has looked sharpest in the Europa League qualifiers. The pace of the game suits him better.

For now, those are the games he should be used in.

We aren't exactly low on midfielders and Davies is currently in form. He should be playing and Klaassen given the time to adapt.

Now, there's something I never thought I'd ever see, Klaassen and Lampard being mentioned in the same sentence

I agree, for me Davies has got to start the league games over Klaassen, with Klaassen being used a sub until he adjusts better. We're getting bullied all over the park with him starting games.

Hopefully you're right re the comparison to Mkhitaryan last season in terms of adjustment, but I suspect Mkhitaryan had less trouble adjusting (albeit, it's early days for Klaassen).
