2017/18 Davy Klaassen

He's a talented player but with this set of players I can not see where he can fit in to a starting eleven in the foreseeable future.

That goes for Rooney to a marginally lesser extent too. They need athletic and energetic players around them.

As every man and his dog can see - Sigi, Rooney and Klaassen can not play at the same time. That's the pecking order too.

Honestly, it doesn't matter who we put out left. Baines will simply not get forward.

Klaassen has a lovely first touch, has great movement, but it's wasted out there as is Siggy where he's there, too. At Ajax, he has width and an active CF.

Davies did well because he at least had Cuco TRYING to get forward, even if he is completely irresponsibile when he does it.

It's still early days, and Davy Klaassen is going to need time to adjust to the pace and ferocity of the Premier League - difficulty is that we have a punishing schedule with the EL involvement and time is unlikely to be on his side too often.

I like his endeavour and energy, but right now, he's struggling to make an impact so his game time will need managing.

Anyone see that lovely first-time ball to Martina midway through the first half? That's what he's capable of but he needs much more than Rooney and Siggy moving about at snail pace beside him.

He's not a playmaker or a second striker, he's a box to box CM which is where he always played for Ajax. He still needs to gel into a constantly-changing team, he's excellent at moving the ball and knitting moves together, but we need to establish a strongest 11 first before he can thrive. It's hard for it to click with any player when they're in a very disorganized side.
