Don't get me wrong, it wasn't an unfathomable sub or anything, but the issue for me is that you know exactly when he decided to do that - after Barry had lost the ball with his back to goal about 40 yards from our goal. It's like a petulant reaction to just haul him off because you're annoyed with him rather than a considered idea where you're taking him off because you think it's the right tactical move. This is the issue we're having all season, we just start one of them then drag them off when it doesn't go well and expect the player replacing them to do better for no reason other than them just being someone else. In some games i've thought that was fair, because the player starting has been so bad that you genuinely think the sub can't actually be any worse, but last night I didn't think that was the case. Barry had done OK, nothing more than that, but OK. There was very little to suggest Beto would offer more, and he absolutely didn't when it came to it.
