2025/26 David Moyes

Had us set up and motivated to play today but threw it away from half time onwards. Taking Barry off was a mistake - was having a decent game (sitter aside) - and the McNeill sub was baffling beyond belief

Alcaraz too late on the scene

Dreadful
Not being able to reboot after they equalised after Sunderland had their little 5 minutes of domination was appalling.

Ok, you can suffer a goal conceded like that early in the second half. But Moyes just wanted a point after that, and THAT is unforgivable.

He did his little mental calculation and thought "yeah, a draw up here when they've been going ok is more than enough. Let's just bottle it up and get 6-7 behind the ball".

Tbf I don’t even think it’s bad recruitment, the manager is using his squad appallingly and destroying multiple young players’ confidence whilst doing so.
Of course it’s bad recruitment if the manager doesn’t want to use them? I’m not saying they’re bad players but they’re not getting minutes, it’s a waste.

Setting myself up for another slating. In the build up on Sly, Spitty Carragher did a decent analysis on Thomas Frank’s performance at Tottenham, showing how managers moving from lower placed clubs, failed to lift their aspirations and expectations of player skills, when moving to one of the higher placed clubs.

In particular the skill and bravery needed in midfield to break the lines.
Moyes at Utd was shown to be one of the biggest failures, having thought Fellaini was the midfielder he needed to progress Utd.

Notwithstanding our striker problem, not understanding who you need and how you feed them is a worry.

Struggling to keep the faith. I keep banging on about giving it time, but it won't click unless he tries to progress us as a footballing team. And yes, it was probably clear to all and sundry that this was how it was going to play out, but there was hope that signings like NDaiye, Grealish, KDH and co would be like this generation's Arteta, Cahill, Pienaar. So far, not good.
