2025/26 David Moyes

There’s never any hope with Moyes. If there is anything on the game he’ll bottle it in some way. He’s also tactically inept and the way football is nowadays, teams are much more tactically savvy. Moyes has always just changed like for like and hoped it’d change. He’s being out thought by managers every week.

I remember the cup final he had osman and Hibbert against Cole and Maluda. No pace against rapid players. To change it he swapped Jacobsen for hibbert and obviously nothing changed. Eventually he replaced osman with gosling, who also had zero pace. Like for like subs. When Chelsea played arsenal in the champions league, Cole was at arsenal and to stop him getting forward with Pires, Ranieri played Gronjkaer high so Cole had to stay back. It worked. Moyes had both Vaughan and Rodwell on the bench who were both athletes and could have changed the approach against the Chelsea left side.

He hasn’t changed at all. He just swaps like for like, Beto for Barry etc. his teams never have any pace, the two players I mentioned earlier - Vaughan and Rodwell were academy boys, players he signed were never quick. It’s a weird way to build a team with zero pace, especially in today’s game. It means we have to work hard to score a goal and any mistake is punished as no one has any pace to cover.

He’ll always manage his reputation above all else, if the team does well it’s down to him against all odds, if it does poorly it’s because he hasn’t got the tfr budget. Truth is he spent £100m on players he rarely players last summer. At Man Utd he had a tfr budget and bought fellani. At West Ham he filled their team with aging slow players. It’s what he does. He’s comfortable living without expectation. He can’t handle anything else.

We all expected a fresh start with the new stadium and new owners. He’s taken us back to the Kenwright years, plucky little Everton fighting against the odds. Everton has been a job for life for anyone we have signed. Keane has been at Everton for 10 years ffs. Unless a player wants to leave we seem to keep them forever. Everton need a massive regime change, someone to come in and change the whole outlook of the club. All the ‘B’ clubs and now Sunderland all seem to have a more forward thinking way of running the club, and they’ve over taken us. More clubs will do the same unless Everton finally get with the times and move on.

You would’ve thought that a new contract for Moyes would’ve been announced before the end of the season. Especially since it was strongly hinted at a few weeks back.

Not really sure what it means that this didn’t happen.

Either they’ve had second thoughts - or they’ve read the room and decided to put the news out quietly, perhaps during the World Cup when minds are on other things.

Either way, it doesn’t scream confidence.

The fella is a serial loser. We needed what, 7 points from the last 7 games to have a decent season? The players looked exhausted despite playing once a week whilst others had a substantially more difficult schedule.

Plays the same team constantly after inept performances. Its just a re-run of his first time here, the difference being football has moved on and his dinosaur tactics get exposed week after week. Sick of square pegs in round holes, it is just a repeat of his first tenure.

Hes no better than dyche, constantly laying the blame elsewhere. Hopefully the TFG have some balls and get rid of this manager before we have another stagnant season celebrating being in the Premier league for another season.

Mental isnt it when you say it like that, 7pts from 7 games. I remember thinking 55 probably wouldn't be enough for EC and it ended up it would have got you 7th and EL

He's overseen an absolute massive bottle job. Its akin to someone chucking the league title but in a European stakes game. 7pts and what did we get, 3pts?

Bit prickly from Moyes. Doesn't understand the fan frustration, we were "short in January" despite picking up 9 points in 5 games using unfavoured players, but we've had "most of them back now" but managed 3 points from the final 7 using his preferred team.

He really doesnt help himself.

Who was that interviewing him? I like his questions put him right on the spot, he looked furious there getting asked uncomfortable questions.

Genuine question, Do the owners have any social media or anything we can target to let them know how people feel?

Whoever it was won’t feel allowed back in to ask anymore.

All too friendly in those press conferences. When he gave that blunt no to understanding Evertonians being disappointed the journalist should have pushed back. Instead, he knew Moyes wasn't happy so quickly moved on.
Yeah he could've pushed him further but there wasn't much point.

Moyes gave him the story/soundbite he wanted.

Saying he doesn't understand the fans frustrations is such a stupid thing to say.

There's no upside to saying that.

A complete nothing of a season.

He is a waste of all our time.

The same will be true next season.
I think you're underestimating the damage. We spent £150 million and he's devalued a number of players. If we give him another £150 million he has openly said he'll spend it on older players. If that happens we are hamstrung for the next 3-5 years so he's not only a bad manager he's also preventing the next manager from doing a good job.
