2025/26 David Moyes

We won't be getting rid
Even though he's got a clear ceiling of mediocrity
Even though there are talented managers available and moyes has one year left
Even though those managers would get us optimistic
We won't because we are a club that celebrates mediocrity, rejoices in being just an also ran, never takes big risks so never gets rewards and the sad truth is if Everton were a person, it would be David Moyes. Its why other clubs fans with an objective viewpoint think he is a perfect fit for us!
Grim
It's why we are also-rans.

Needs a bold manager to make big decisions here.

Keane and Tarkwoski both benched
Mykolenko benched
Gueye sold/benched and the midfield reformatted
Grealish not renewed, Ndiaye benched and two wide flyers brought in.
Barry either sold or backed to come good.

Major decisions that are needed to sort the team out but i would guess Moyes will just use the same players in the same formation again come 9th and wonder why Everton fans are expecting more.

Can't argue with that. Think O'Brien should have been next to Tarkowski or at least played 3 at the back.

But I still do think we progressed this this season, even if only by a small amount in a highly competitive league
Agree with the first sentence.

I am struggling to see the progress if I’m honest, perhaps KDH purchase and Garner progression? But pretty thin gruel other wise

David moyes this season

Pros

Likely met the seasons objective

Team was solid for the best part

At one point had a likely shot at europe

Cons

Threw away an excellent chance of european qualification

Lost connection and credit in the bank with some of the fanbase

Very rigid with team selection and substitutions

Didn't make much use of young players but perhaps with good reason

Summary.

Probably a par season in terms of expectations. Some good away results but some poor home results. However really disappointing to not qualify for Europe when it looked so likely and in doing so lost a lot of the fan base. Made excuses during press conferences and blaming referee decisions to deflect the blame. Made poor use of young prospects and lack of use of backup players may have cost him with the end of season poor form.

Persisted with O Brien right back and poor centre back partnersips.

On balance by achieving the objective deserves another shot next season but if a younger hungrier manager is available it shouldn't be overlooked.
Targets were:
A top 10 finish - FAIL
A cup run - FAIL

So having missed the 2 primary targets the only thing that would go in his favour is bringing through younger players - FAIL or developing a coherent style of play - FAIL.

So do you still think he deserves another season?

Yes, because Branthwaite isn’t there when Keane is playing.

Having two slugs alongside each other will make the defence drop off.

There is very little between Keane and Tarkowski, and I’d argue Tarkowski has been no better than Keane this season.
That’s the thing. JOB is nowhere near as rapid as Branthwaite. I hope he continues to develop and eventually establishes himself in the centre of defence, but he doesn’t bring what Branthwaite does.

Agree, losing Branthwaite was a huge blow and Grealish to an extent as he really helped get free kicks up the pitch that gave the defense a breather.

But there were other options, move O’Brien to CB and play a different back four and he just never

I've supported Moyes this season but he needs to go. I was squirming with embarrassment at that today.
How he can put that team out is beyond my comprehension. Barry is a stain on our club
That pitiful performance reminded me of one of Dyches final games, I think it was at Bournemouth, NO fight & NO DESIRE, the writing was on the wall………He’s gotta go.

Not even going to give him the excuse of grealish and branthwaite being out.

Grealish wasn't being used to the best of his ability and had went off the boil by the time he got injured, completely wasted on the left wing with "myko" as his fullback partner.

Branthwaite the manager was trying to claim he hasn't had much experience at center back and was still growing into it, and played him at left back on multiple occasions

There's no excuses left the manager just isn't good enough and he never will be.

we cannot allow him to go and spend hundreds of millions in the summer and cripple us after he's left.

KDH had a fantastic debut season. But everybody loses form or energy and Doucoure is also a different kind of player. People have a go at him all the time, but he was consistently a very effective player in the Premier League.

We need to add some pace and energy if we are to seriously improve next season. Also a bit more depth that is of the required standard.
We could start with pace and energy from the dug out. Faster proactive subs and an energetic 'go win' message

I agree, but I think the idea that O’Brien is the answer is an oversimplification. He makes plenty of lapses and he would be more exposed in the centre. There are lots of defenders who can have a good came covering who become exposed the longer they play.

If there’s one thing Moyes know, it is coaching central defenders.
Conceding 9 goals in our last 4 matches and no clean sheet in the last seven…..
