I would say that we actually ended up missing Doucoure this season. His energy and high pressing was much missed.

Young managers have won Palace cups, got Sunderland, Brighton and Bournemouth europe.

Yet we will give Moyes another 12 months!

What is the point of this club…as its not to win trophies or progress

People can gripe all they like, but it was a solid consolidation season. Next season will be the key one and I’d imagine the target will be European qualification.

You simply have to be related or actually are David Moyes.

I would have him fired in the Morning and Hire Glasner/iralola by Wednesday, then get down to business for the summer.

It would have been, had the boss not tanked the last 7 by sticking with the same backline

Yeah, but the context it’s important. We had a European challenge but fell away badly at the end of the season. Relegation was never a worry.

That's putting a very positive spin on a poor season.

They aim for missionary once a month with the lights off, but end up seeing to themselves in an airing cupboard over an old M&S lingerie catalogue from 1973.

Doucoure is a quality player. A bit of an odd player, but his hybrid qualities enabled a much more aggressive style last season which we were never able to replicate this season.

His ability to pop up with important goals in clutch games was also badly missed

he would have been a good alternative to dewsbury hall who for me has equally looked really good and really bad this season. Its clear why he didnt make the england team or not even considered for it.

Pros

Likely met the seasons objective

Team was solid for the best part

At one point had a likely shot at europe

Cons

Threw away an excellent chance of european qualification

Lost connection and credit in the bank with some of the fanbase

Very rigid with team selection and substitutions

Didn't make much use of young players but perhaps with good reason

Summary.

Probably a par season in terms of expectations. Some good away results but some poor home results. However really disappointing to not qualify for Europe when it looked so likely and in doing so lost a lot of the fan base. Made excuses during press conferences and blaming referee decisions to deflect the blame. Made poor use of young prospects and lack of use of backup players may have cost him with the end of season poor form.

Persisted with O Brien right back and poor centre back partnersips.

On balance by achieving the objective deserves another shot next season but if a younger hungrier manager is available it shouldn't be overlooked.

Maybe the ownership objectives, but not fan objectives.

I think, you have to adjust expectations when you realise what is within reach with a hint of ambition.

Unfortunately, if you stand still in the Premier League, you get overtaken.
