2025/26 David Moyes

Getting to the point where he either gets an extension or is let go.

Managers going into their final season on their contract are often lame ducks.

unless he bows out with a europa win …

but ye, maybe a one year deal

i think the club needs to limit him to a say on one plug in now player a la grealish/kdh, the rest need to be made up by recruitment team without him dithering over a move for some hyper athlete right back whos 6ft2 and has the speed of kyle walker and the attacking ability of coleman but hasnt played premier league football so we sign bogle instead

Shame former player as Manager = Trophies ....
Football is a totally different game these days Joey, the sentimental stuff needs to stop mate, it has been holding us back for years. Whatever model TFG wish to follow, we need to find the guy who aligns with that model the best.

I’m sorry that I doubted him earlier in the season. I’ve always been a heavy Moyes fan, but started loosing it up to the Newcastle game.

He isn’t perfect but right now he fits the club perfectly. I would be over the moon if he is able to manage us into a european competition - ideally the conference league - which would give the club a great opportunity to win a trophy.

Are you sure that’s how it works Joey?
Sure am - It has been done since the mid 1950s - Cliff Britton former half back won Promotion in Division 2 - Harry Catterick - former no 9 won two league Championships & a Fa Cup - Howard Kendall two championship titles one FA Cup & one European Cup winners Cup - Joe Royle one FA Cup 1995 - no outside Manager has won us didly squat before 1950 the teams were manged by a committee Chairman & the club Captain helped to select the team -

Other Managers = won Nothing - Billy Bingham came close to winning the league as a former player & blew it - bottom Club to maximum points of us & relegated Sheffield United were 2-0 down & beat us 3-2 in the championship run in at Goodison ....

DM & Gordon Lee came close in cup competitions ...

Only former players have silverware - HK the most successful......

last season both west ham and spurs would have seen us as easy 3 points at home

now they are both crapping their pants with us being in both their relegation run ins

Maybe they were just really good managers with really good teams? I'm not sure every single player who's ever played for us is gonna be a good manager, or have the comparitive financial strength some of those managers had. If there's an ex blue out there doing a really good job as a manager at any point going forward then fair enough. As of now though, there's literally only Arteta and we're not getting him any time soon.

The 1950s side were relegated it was a journeyman's team - 3 years later promoted - HK never started with a massive budget - Graham Sharp had been signed as a youngster with other teams by previous Manager Gordon Lee - HK gambled on Andy Gray Peter Reid etc - no abundance of money ....

Harry Catterick's 1970 title team had 7 home grown players in it - although he had two big signings in it Ball & Kendall - we also had to survive on gate money back then - no Sky bonanza monies - as I stated same for every club in the leagues at that time in all eras ...

Comparitively Joey, we were much closer to what other teams who might challenge for the title could spend than we have been for many years (barring the disastrous Moshiri splurges)

So what you're saying is we need Nick Barmby in as he'll win us a double. Before defecting to Mordor.
