2025/26 David Moyes

The pros and cons are pretty simple.

Pros
An actual football manager, not a coach. Has experience across all the different facets.
Can build a team over time.
Is a good man manager.
Is very good at coaching.
Has kept his knowledge of the game up to date.
Has now proven he is capable of winning silverware.
His deep knowledge means he’s actually better equipped to deal with different challenges on the field. He knows many systems.

Cons
He’s getting on a bit.
He’s a bit defensive at times. But that’s usually due to the squad he has to work with.

This deeply scientific analysis means - extend for a couple more years and rebuild. Groom a long-term successor as well.
Just to add to this think-piece, this has to Big Dunc. Get him back into the fold.

Gotta say, been a big critic of him this season but he managed that game excellently. Branthwaite on at the right time to help Myko. Other late subs giving the players a boost without upsetting the tempo. It's great to see that this side is finding it's feet without grealish. Think we may have been depending too much on him and werent sure what to do without him.

Kenwright is dead mate. We have moved on.
Lets get in an up and coming manager with all the new coaching lingo in . Someone like Liam Rosenior perhaps. Or maybe one who has looked very good on the continent like Amorin. We would thrive and prosper then. Or maybe lets stick with the one who has us on the verge of Champions league spots and who took over a club who was on its arse.

+10. Exactly right.

Whatever happens, he cannot go back to that ineffective possession ball on the edge of the box next year. We had a winning formula towards the end of last year and he went back on it. We have a winning formula now that actually utilizes our players and I have concerns that he may go back on it. Simply put Davey can't be a coward. He can be a better manager than he was in the first half. He has shown that.
To progress we need to be better in possession as all of the team above us are. He needs ti manage the transition from being a more defensive low block team to being a team that looks to dominate possession. Grealish was a player that allowed us to control the ball more but we don’t quite have the other players to play that way now. Nothing to do with being cowardly.

Must have imagined Grealish talking up how instrumental Moyes was in getting him to come to Everton.

Also KDH & Garner speaking how much they are enjoying playing for him.

Branthwaite signing a new deal.

I could go on…

There is no question, to Moyes credit, that he does well with rehabilitation & giving an out of favour players a chance so I can understand KDH & Grealish being keen to come.

Let’s see who we can attract in the summer as he did basically say our first & second choices turned us down last season.

I agree with this Kev.

Well said, we need a better manager.

It’s just another weird false narrative. If you are a young player surely it’s a good thing to work with someone with a strong record of improving players and getting them into their national sides?

What about all the uncapped players he turned into internationals?
