2025/26 David Moyes

Playing devils advocate you could ask why it’s taken 16 home games to get this type of performance that, win, lose or draw, we would like to see at home on a more regular basis. 😃
I think it's fair to be frustrated at times this season, we've got some good players and we can certainly get a performance out of them, but it's so inconsistent.

Moyes himself is part of that as he does make odd team selections at times. I can also understand why people question the absence of many of the new faces, especially when performances or results have been muck.

Moyes does have that knack of squeezing a lot out of a core few in a squad, digging out results, and getting us up the table. Wouldn't complain if he dig out a few more Dewsbury-Hall signings and reduced the Rohls/kids he'll probably not use.

Don't think another 11 years is on the cards, mind. Another season or two, yes.

He has a lot of previous for finishing the season strongly, playing some great football in process, and if i recall we did get knocked out of the cups early in a few of those so not a stick i would use to beat him with...

The pros and cons are pretty simple.

Pros
An actual football manager, not a coach. Has experience across all the different facets.
Can build a team over time.
Is a good man manager.
Is very good at coaching.
Has kept his knowledge of the game up to date.
Has now proven he is capable of winning silverware.
His deep knowledge means he’s actually better equipped to deal with different challenges on the field. He knows many systems.

Cons
He’s getting on a bit.
He’s a bit defensive at times. But that’s usually due to the squad he has to work with.

This deeply scientific analysis means - extend for a couple more years and rebuild. Groom a long-term successor as well.

We won't be grooming a long term successor as this doesn't happen in top flight football

Whatever happens, he cannot go back to that ineffective possession ball on the edge of the box next year. We had a winning formula towards the end of last year and he went back on it. We have a winning formula now that actually utilizes our players and I have concerns that he may go back on it. Simply put Davey can't be a coward. He can be a better manager than he was in the first half. He has shown that.
