2025/26 David Moyes

I have no idea what you're referring to.

He's credited by me and tens of thousands of other Evertonians with saving this club from falling into the Championship.

That's where it ends as far as Ilm concerned.

I wont be one of the ingrates who thinks it's edgy to denigrate his time here though.
This is a very interesting point which warrants further dedicated investigation separate from Moyes discussions...

He did have Hibbert as his RB for a good 9 yrs last time he was here. I’m not convinced he will be going all out for attacking full backs in the summer, more likely it will be 6ft plus full backs, who’re slightly better going forward than Myko and O’Brien.
He did have Hibbert but i’d argue that even 15/20 years ago full backs defended

Now they are wingers who can defend or the good ones at least

I'm just fed up of the relentless negative criticism without any nuance. This place becomes an echo chamber and people think if they repeat something often enough it becomes a fact.
Let’s face it, the game is being played be both factions, neither of whom are wholly wrong or wholly right. So let’s stop trying to scorn each other and just have some healthy debate.

We all have our opinions on particular decisions that David Moyes has made, whether selection/tactics are correct, whether our transfers have been successful etc. But some people on here just hate David Moyes both personally and professionally. You can't have a discussion with people who go on relentlessly about him being a mid-table limited manager, being negative, ha ING his favourites, not making substitutions, not backing youth etc. They have a fixed agenda and will never depart from it. Despite the fact that we're 8th. It's a weird sort of fan that is posting criticism of the managers substitutions within 20 mins of a 2-0 home victory. That's just odd.

They certainly do exist, the lad sat next to me on Tuesday Started with square pegs round holes, myself counted wuth Lescott as left back Jagielka as Right back and defensive midfielder, as in it's what Moyes does.
As soon as the second goal went in , stared to remonstrating to anyone who would look at him about Dibling and George not being on " how are they going to get better".
We are knocking at the door of Europe from relegation favourites and selling any player that looked decent all within a year...
In Moyes we trust!

That's the nature of football, we've just beaten an all but relegated side which is what at the very least we should be doing at home. We didn't beat Wolves,Leeds or Tottenham,so should the fans have been happy after those games? Maybe people will stop with the mid-table limited jibes after we beat Arsenal away and Chelsea then City at home?

Portugal.

Moyes must be the manager with the most winter training breaks in the history of the PL. I stand to be corrected on that. He was notorious for them at West Ham and obviously here too. Even when Sunderland were in the bin when he took them down he had them in New York mid-season.

It sort of incentivises being knocked out of the cup early every season, I suppose.

Are you saying that Moyes told them before the Sunderland game, that if they get beat then they would get a couple of trips away? Did Garner score the penalty by accident, was he trying not to score just so he could get a holiday mid season? Were those players really injured? Were Ndiaye and Gana really at AFCON? It was all a ruse people, Moyes came into management just so he could have a few jolly boys outings in FA Cup week.

Or

Are you sitting there working down a list of innocuous crap to get all angry about.

I'm simply suggesting that if everyone knows that the manager likes a mid-season jolly in a warm climate then the motivation to get through to the latter rounds of the cup competitions has to be undermined.

Even for you this is a wild conspiracy theory.

I heard he really enjoys his Thursday nights snuggled up watching TV, I really hope the players don't get wind of this, as it could really compromise our chances of Europe.

Not sure I necessarily agree with you but the stats for the last 10 years are interesting.

Anyone who thinks Moyes is going to win a domestic trophy is sadly very mistaken.

And lescott was superb at left back.
square pegs in round holes depends on who the player is. Garner looks just as comfortable in either position. Nobody described Alan Harper as a square peg when Everton were winning titles with him playing everywhere.
Any managers wet dream. Not just Moyes.
