2025/26 David Moyes

13th would be a more than respectable finish given where we have come from.
I think my target was about 10th. I could live with 11th or 12th if we missed out by a point or two as the margins would be tiny. 13th would be disappointing, but again if the difference between 10th and 13th was a couple of points I'd probably accept that in the context of improving. If we end up on 55ish points, I'd accept that as a good points return and progress on last season and I'd try not to dwell too much on where we finished, but if I'm honest I've wanted top 10 from before a ball was kicked this year.

Edit - 13th place and being nowhere near 10th would be pretty disappointing

wait so if we don’t get europe it’s moyes out?
I have the feeling Moyes will resign if we don't get into Europe. Something he said in his post match press conference about a new manager bringing good football to the Hill Dickinson suggested to me he's only here until either his contract is up or if he can't have a final swansong season which involves European football. Might of misinterpreted what he said but it seemed to me he was basically saying he's not here for the long haul

He said stuff like that when he was appointed, going on about his age etc, but his actions suggest he has longer term ambitions to me. He’s got too many of his appointees in the recruitment and football ops team to be entering his last 12 months next season imo.

Besides his arl fella was still scouting etc well into his 70s so can’t see Moyes jnr wanting to hang up his cardy any time soon.

Fingers crossed.

United haven't come close to winning the league or champions league since Moyes was sacked and that includes serial winners like Mourinho, Van Gael etc so it's not like he butchered an amazing team. Ferguson won the league in the season before Moyes mainly thanks to Van Persie being fit for every single league game and the opposition being in transition - plus this was pre Pep, Klopp etc. Moyes failed of course but I think whoever went in would have had similar struggles. The older players who were once top level had dropped off yet their egos thought they were still elite and they wouldn't have played for another manager after Ferguson. Similar to Clough at Leeds the players didn't want to know after don Revie.
I think it's clear that one of the best ever managers papered over a lot of issues at United, and no one has been able to replicate that.

At the same time, any thought that giving Moyes a big budget to get us into the Champions League isn't rooted in any sort of history.

Relax brother, these were the nights BMD was built for.

C’mon lads… Can’t we all just get along?! 😜

Maybe the story wasn't re-written, but David Moyes is penning a beautiful new chapter here.

Similar comments were being said when we never battered Wolves. Same Wolves who in the last few weeks took two points away from Arsenal and beat liverpool & Villa. Burnley took points off Chelsea at stamford Bridge two weeks ago.
People need to stop classing these games as gimmes.
cricket score lol.
I don't think any games are a gimme this season. It is great to win but people are getting carried away because we beat a rubbish team at home.

To be fair to Moyes, last night was game for the ages. I look forward to telling my grandchildren about the match when Everton beat the mighty, basically already relegated, injury decimated Burnley team, 2:0 at home.
A joyous 1st win at home for 3 months.
It will certainly go down in the anals of history.
Here was me thinking Evertonians were happy to see us win

One of His biggest mistakes was getting rid of Ferguson back room team
And bringing in his own, Ferguson advised him against this.
Fellaini would have also been 100% on him, he was a good player, but surely you don’t from Fabregas to fellani. I’m sure he could have got 10 midfielders better than Fellaini and utd would have had the finances and pull to get most of them
Welcome back
