2025/26 David Moyes

The stadium

We’re selling 12-14,000 extra tickets every home game

People are using the stadium for other events, and that’s only going to keep happening

We have owners who are being sensible and actually have a plan other than “flimflam my way until I can sell it to someone who will let me stay on” or “throw someone else’s money around and hope there isn’t a war in Russia that causes him to be sanctioned”

This is a very different situation to the past

Obviously we’re all desperate for success but;

This. Will. Take. Time
Personally I don’t see it. I’ve pretty much given up on us becoming a genuine force now, I made my peace with that a few years ago and nothing the new owners have done has suggested that’s changing. On that basis I’d just like to generally enjoy going to the game and feel like we might win a cup or whatever. I just don’t see those things happening under moyes.

Considering that we’re in the first season of a major squad rebuild along with playing our first season in the new stadium (not to mention having injury problems and players missing for large chunks of the season), mid-table is about right. The owners have said multiple times that the progress will be gradual and there are areas of the squad that we need to improve in the summer but it’s not going too differently to what I expected this season.

I think 50 points should be the target from here, less than that would be a bit disappointing as it would be similar totals to the last 2 seasons.

Definitely will never happen under Moyes….

I’m sorry but the destination is everything

That’s the mindset people need to have

If we’re winning cups in 5 years time and competing for champions league places then I’m not going to be arsed that we had some dull football under Moyes for 18 months so he could lay the foundation to get us there, and nor should anyone else

We've been a mess for years under various managers and some on here think the answer is to change the manager once again, you couldn't make it up.
It will take holding their nerve for this to work but from what I've heard TFG are all in on the plan.

Give it a rest

If they wanted this mindset to change and to sell a long term plan, it's pretty terrible marketing to kick it off with a manager who loads don't like and even more won't have any patience for

It's just not the best fit at all for getting the fanbase behind a new era.

It’s a leftfield strategy to hope that missing out on European football might just be the catalyst to attract our top targets who wouldn’t sign for the club last summer because we didn’t have European football.

Wonderfully clever post this.

Sure it will go over a few people’s head though.

Yep. This idea that having the 7th biggest stadium in the league - in one of the least affluent cities in the country - will somehow catapult us into the Champions league is just nonsense unfortunately.

Think the frustration is that it feels like we have thrown away loads of points, particularly recently. We have been outplayed a few times, as you’d expect given our squad, but a few teams have rocked up here and been really awful, and we’ve waved them away with a point or three. Realistically we dont look anything like a team that could be 4th, but it does feel we have given away so many points. If we finished 3rd we’d moan we should have been 2nd though. All fans the same.

Moyes very very intent on commending the performance and specifically saying the players have been great all season every time we lose. Why? Fragile mentalities in the squad? Reminding the owners of the forward progress to protect himself after dismal results?
