I wonder what's going through Moyes' head regarding the right back spot this summer. I doubt he anticipated that O'Brien would come in and do as good a job as he has.

IMO how much money potentially gets spent on a RB depends on whether Branthwaite goes: If so, we've got his replacement already and would not need to bring in a starting CB, and would instead invest heavier on as good a right back as possible and a decent challenging centre half.

If he stays, O'Brien has proven himself adept in that position and we have more pressing immediate needs elsewhere.

Moyes also needs to decide whether Patterson has any future, and if not then get him sold asap.

Coleman and Young - I can see one of them staying next season, most likely Young, even if he is pushing 50.

For me, O'Brien will ultimately end up a centre half for us, so if we do have substantial funds, we should be trying to bring in a long term right back this summer.

It must be mad for Moyes aswell to have left the club in 2013 and to return in 2025 and the right back he signed still in the side/squad.
Thats mental.

Yeah I was surprised we didn’t do more pre season games in Australia. Premier league is massive over here and Cahill is the Aussie version of Messi in terms of status.

Not really … I always found you Aussies used to froth over kewell .. never understood it myself

Also most of the prem fans over here that are Aussie are rs

I’m from Wavertree, just married an Aussie 😊

Yep we have loads of RS, United and Chelsea fans here. Quite a few blues at my ‘soccer’ club purely due to Cahill. Got a few Villa fans too but not sure why!
