The best passer of the ball at the club. He's left now along with the most creative player at the club in Deulofeu.

Things that should be lamented in all honesty. Let's hope Koeman can sign some class to replace class and not just the strong, fast athletes he obviously prefers.

Dave, you cannot be serious about a.Gibson being the best passer of the ball and b.his going being lamentable??

He's wasted whatever talent he had and the sooner is he out of Everyon and off the salary sheet the better for all concerned.

Please don't come back with any kind of half-baked reasoning as you'll just look daft... in my opinion.

At his best he was decent was Gibson as we all know. I remember 0-0 at Anfield when he was the best midfielder on the pitch yet slippy G got MOM.

The above though again is just another level of contradictory garbage and an attempt at Stuart Hall type romantic wording from the usual suspect.

Not sure what is controversial about saying he's the best passer of a ball at the club, because he... well, is.

The problem with him was never really his talent; it was actually getting that talent on the pitch. Whenever he had a run of 10-15 games he'd generally look one of our best players, but that happened once every two years, so it didn't matter.

His leaving is hardly lamentable though FFS! lol

What was plain daft, was saying last week he's an embarrassment to the club and then using his leaving as a stick to beat Koeman with the week after.

Obviously - but that's davek. He has a persona, sometimes the need to keep up that persona slips him up and people can find holes to discover that he has set views on things for a predetermined reason.

Which is why after so many years on here I am always baffled when people still argue with him.

Arguably the best midfielder we've got technically, definitely the worst athletically. Plus he's obviously made of plywood or something.

Sunderland's best midfielder if fit, but like everyone else I'm happy to see him go.
