Seeing as he's got a year left, surely the sensible thing to do is see how he gets on next season? We'd risk losing him for nothing like, but at the moment, he's hardly worth anything anyway.

Correct.

Option 1 - Sell him now for what would be a minimal fee - no point, other than to save wages.

Option 2 - Offer a new contract. This would be foolish at this stage and I can't believe the club would be so naive as to do so.

Option 3 - See out his current contract. Even though it involves paying Gibbo his wage for the final year of it, seeing it out would seem to be the most sensible option to see how things progress, if at all.

A further decision can then be deferred until next January at least.

Yep, don't see the point in offering him a new contract at the moment, unless it's pay as you play. Just makes no sense at all, nobody is going to be falling over themselves to snap him up cos his contract is nearing it's end.

Should be on a pay as you play deal in any new contract or a seriously reduced one if not.

I also wouldn't even consider giving him any more than a 12 month deal.

The club can't be this stupid not to give him a play deal. It will be 2 years to protect ourselves in case he can remain fit
