Cannot believe it. Done in training and out for the season. Really can we afford to keep him at the club and on the wages bill?

I would put it down to bad luck more than anything. Anybody can fracture a bone, regardless of if they're injury prone.

Don't think many players struggle with being prone to broken bones :P

He'll likely have insurance that will cover a portion of the wages .

Personally would try to get him on a Pay as you play or were he gets half his wage regularly and the rest while hes available to play

I'm not disputing he's injury prone. However, I normally associate injury proneness with muscular injuries, and not broken bones.

He's clearly taken a hefty whack, so I wouldn't class this injury as being anything other than unfortunate.

He did it in training, RM said on Friday in a very innocuous action just in the box, he rolled his ankle and didn't realise anything was wrong.

"Then, this morning, it was swollen and when we checked it he has a fracture in his metatarsal which is really devastating

Oh, fair enough. Never knew that. You don't just break a bone out of nothing though. There must have been some sort of major impact on his foot for that to happen.

Has he much of a history for broken bones? At what point do you stop labeling players as crocks and accept that some injuries are just unfortunate?

I'm not denying he's injury prone mate. I said that in the first post you quoted. However, do you notice that the majority of his injuries are related to muscular problems (Which oddly, or not. :p is normally the case with injury prone players) ?

I don't think this injury is in anyway related to any previous problems.

Anyway, the discussion is futile. Apart from flogging him, we're stuck with him. All this nonsense about putting him on a pay as you play deal is just nonsense, seeing as it would be illegal for us to alter his contract.

..it's a difficult one but it is amazing how certain layers are more injury prone. I wonder if it is also something to do with being a bit 'awkward' in both the timing and way a player challenges. Also not having a sound judgement of knowing what to do and when.

I think Phil Jones is an example of this and he is another who spends time out with injuries. I don't think it's totally down to bad luck.
