Sounds like he's had a skinful on Saturday night. To be fair, many of us will have driven over the limit the morning after but we are not professional sportsmen.

He'll be gone after this, at least the wage bill will go down...

If he has got a genuine problem then I would like to see us take care of him and try and help him, always come across as a decent fella to me but alcoholism is a serious problem and if it does affect him, even on a small scale he will need all the help he can get

If he is drunk at 9.45 am then sounds like he has a drink problem. Maybe he is struggling to deal with all the injuries and might need some support rather than being instantly sacked? I know he has been a waste of wages etc etc but I'm sure he has found it as annoying as us fans.

How much over the limit was he?

I've heard rumours for years that he likes a drink a bit too much and hangs around with the wrong type of people. Stuff like this makes me believe those stories are true. Bloke's career is going down the pan due to his lack of discipline and inability to stay fit and it's massive shame because he's actually really good.

This is true but we are a different team nowadays and if it's true as I have never seen it, Martinez doesn't look to kindly upon drinking when it affects work, then it could spell the end for Darron, won't be offered a new contract I don't think

I suppose it all depends on the circumstances, ie the truth rather than a sensationalist headline article in the Sun.

Let's see how it plays out before condemning the fella.

I guess it is a pain for a pro footballer to be endlessly injured...but a guaranteed 30K a week regardless, would be a pretty good analgesic.

Yeah no chance really they'd run it otherwise.

Reckon it's grounds to terminate his contract early? Sort of hoping so - even in terms of just a footballing decision, I think we all realise Gibbo isn't really an asset for us anymore.

Hopefully. Even if it doesn't save us a large amount of cash it sends a message. He has been paid handsomely and continues to take the p iss. Never mind the fact that drink driving and running fr a crime scene is scum enough.

...I don't reckon you're going too far out on a limb there mate :p

Been hanging around Van Der Meyde by the sounds of things. If the Clique at Goodison deal with him in the same way as they did Shandy he'll be out the door.

Very sad if true. The guy's injury record combined with the many rumours of his social life and drinking ruining his body would seem to be true. Would also explain the links to Song. I cannot see Gibson lasting long at the club if this is fact.

Shame for someone to have such talent and yet be swayed by the drink. What any of us would give to be blessed with the ability to play for Everton.
