IMO, we're in the gutter and lucky to have any player willing to come in who's had gametime at a top club. I think he can give us a bit more directness from midfield than what we have already. And if it's £500K initially, it's a ****ing steal. And this lad is looking to catch the eye of Trapatonni for a starting place at the Euros, so he'll be out the blocks looking to make an impression.

My only reservation is that it will mean someone else out. If it's Bily - no problem. If it's Rodwell, then that's something else entirely. We just have to wait on that I suppose.

We're due a kickback from Coventry selling The Juke this week. Though I highly doubt the ability of our selling team to negotiate a 30% sell on fee when getting shot of youngsters. Stranger things have happened Dave.

It might not mean anyone leaving...yet. They're going to have to shift on the saleable assets though (if we're not sold)
 

First mistake Bily made was getting rid of his Eastern European mullet. That could of been epic in the Prem. Same with Royston and his dreads.
 

500k would be a very good fee and I'd be a lot happier with this transfer is that's the case.

If I were the PR guy at Goodison I would be advising to not keep the details of this one undisclosed.
 

Wish the guy all the best and reserve judgement until he has played half a dozen games, cannot be worse than what we have to be honest.

Everton have completed the signing of midfielder Darron Gibson from Manchester United for an undisclosed fee.

The 24-year-old Republic of Ireland international joins on a four-and-a-half year deal and becomes the Club’s second signing of the January transfer window following the loan acquisition of Landon Donovan from LA Galaxy at the start of the month.

He will wear the number 4 shirt.

Gibson, whose last appearance for United came in a 5-0 win over Wigan on Boxing Day, will arrive at Finch Farm immediately and could make his debut when the Blues take on Aston Villa at Villa Park on Saturday.

A product of Manchester United's youth system, Gibson broke through the ranks during the 2005/06 campaign and has since made 60 appearances, scoring 10 goals - many spectacular efforts from long range.

Last season he scored in the Red Devils’ Champions League semi-final defeat of German outfit Schalke, just over a year after another strike helped Sir Alex Ferguson's men overcome giants Bayern Munich in the last eight of the same competition.

Gibson has appeared for his country on 17 occasions, scoring one goal.
