Quick one from Uniteds view on him...

"That's the main
thing.if he worked super hard i'm sure
he would get less flak from people
because other than being a good shot
(even that's wavering these days)
there's nothing else you can say to his
defense.especially for a guy who plays
in midfield.doesn't cross the ball,falls
over too often for a guy his size,no
speed,no passing percentage that
could hold up and definetly can't beat
his man.and the list goes on and on.if
he atleast showed desire to play hard
even though he gets limited
opportunities the flak might go down
but being average when he is given
the chance to play doesn't do him any
favors."

United fans have a lot of respect for Gibson....how long was is twitter account open before it got shut because of all the abuse???? Gibson is awful, a new Gareth Farrelly. If Moyes buys him he has lost the plot and his really struggling to find new ideas, we are crying out for a striker for gods sake

Better than Neville or Cahill or in midfield for certain, maybe even Heitinga and Bily too.

So yeh, better than what we currently have.

Not really because say Cahill and Bilya aren't central midfielders...and Heits and Nev can be defensive midfielders.

Gibson isn't a defensive mid, hes just a central midfielder whos **** scared of doing anything.

Squad filler. Not worth talking about as a worthwhile signing.

Technically he's got all the attributes, have concerns that he's not shown enough at Man Utd to be given an opportunity. This may be because he's been angling for a move away and has incurred SAF's wrath. I genuinely think that given an opportunity he could shine.

However you look at it, it's certainly a better solution than fielding a central midfield pair of Neville and Heitinga, which should never ever happen again.

This kind of view concerns me! He is less technically able than Rodwell and Fellaini and turned down a move to Sunderland in summer as he seemed content to stay at utd not play and pick up his 20k a week. Not the kind of player or attitude we need in our midfield, we need someone with drive and wanting to prove themself, Im not convinced Gibson is that type of player

To replace Bily & stop the central Neville Heitinga Partnership. Ok. Maybe for £1 million.

But if Rodwell or Barkley leave, we might as well start familiarising ourselves with Championship grounds.

Im with you here really, quite surprised how extremely negative all of the comments are.....maybe its because its just been THAT long since we signed anyone

That concerns you? OK. So we don't sign him and we're then dependent upon Neville and Heitinga to pick up the slack in central midfield when we can't select Rodwell and Felliani. This concerns me more to be honest.

Not for one moment to do I expect to become our first choice central midfielder, but however you approach it - he's better than the alternatives we currently have available. The squad is stretched very thinly, bodies are needed to ensure that there isn't complete meltdown between now and May, oh and we haven't got much/any money.

If he's available just by buying out the remainder of his contract then at £1m I'd happily take him as it adds to the squad and reduces the pressure on our other midfielders who are patently not 100% fit at the moment.

However, I'm sure that the majority on here are more aware than Moyes as to which other players are available at suitable prices and salaries to ensure that Everton have enough cover throughout the squad.

I genuinely think that if we announced we were signing Lionel Messi then some people would mutter "FFS he's not big/strong/quick enough".

Be realistic. He's available, affordable, he fits a current need and Moyes obviously thinks he's suitable. I'd love a 20 goal striker and a flying creative winger but with our resources? Good luck.

none of whom are likely to make the irish squad for the Euro's and its not as if we (ireland) have a wide selection of players to choose from

Coleman will make the squad if he is fit. Gibson should too, if he gets a few games under his belt.

Massive over-reaction here to what will be a bargain buy. Give the lid a chance before condemning him FFS.
