Darron Gibson - And If You Know Your History

I was furious when Gibson signed. The pie I eat every time he plays is very very humble. He keeps us ticking over, essential keeping him fit.

But... Gravesen was rubbish...

He was wasted out wide under Smith but was excellent when moved by Moyes into the centre. Same as what happened to Carsley in many ways. Ran the game for us on many occassions with MOM performances. Some of the killer balls he would play through to the strikers were sublime. Then Madrid bought him for a holding midfielder role, something he never was.

I'm sure if you asked Moyes he'd consider Gravesen to be one of the most talented players he's managed. He was a talented player wasted in direct, long ball team for the majority of his time here, a footballer surrounded by workman like players not on his wavelength. As soon as we got a bit of pace and movement around him the vision was there for everyone to see. He'd have been much more suited to this Everton side.
