To be fair, that does look pretty nasty. Seems incredible that the peleton would be chucking bidons given the speed, so maybe a few fell out over the speed bump?

So unlucky. Yeah, must have been something like a speed hump, why would you throw away your bidon before the race has even started?

I'm thinking of cancelling my Eurosport sub if this carries on haha .. seriously haven't we been spoilt over the last decade+ with the success of Brit riders on the world stage. Perhaps time to lower expectations again?

Not sure what to make of the Quest TV daily coverage at 7pm. Like the understated presenter but not sure why Conor McGregor is on the sofa most evenings with him:)

What is it? 10 Grand Tour wins from 4 different British riders since 2011? Plus Cavendish's worlds win and ton of stage victories. That's pretty amazing for a country whose previous best performance was 4th. I thought the Yates brothers might grab another few between them, but Simon in particular seems prone to having really bad days.

The dominance continues - today saw British victory in one of the most prestigious cycling races of all, the world e-MTB champs at Leogang, won by Tom Pidcock!

Not sure what he is doing contesting the full English breakfast of bike races, but I guess he gives it some cred. Sven Nys and Julian Absalon also raced. In real racing Pidcock flayed the U23 field at the world cup MTBing last week. Back of the grid and stormed the win - I guess he might be thinking of the Olympic mountain biking if that is next year?

Sounded like an absolutely giant pull from Ganna today at the Giro - 175K breakaway over a mountain at 83 kg?!. Wish I'd watched it as he must have been raging epic Watts on that final climb. Class ride from a guy that shows he wasn't just showing up to pursuit his way to the prologue win.

And Nibali didn't take any time out of his lead for most of the wet - and dense fog at the top - descent. Balls of steel.
