Cycling thread

An awful lot more so imo, given that not only did he fail tests as a player, but his team has failed a bunch of tests lately, whilst his former team had the state cover up one of the biggest doping cases in sport.

Taking an asthma medication that has no performance enhancing affect is peanuts in comparison.
I'd say it might come crumbling down on him, but like in tennis, there is little desire from the powers that be to make it so

That's what bugs me about Roan et al because they go after easy pickings to further their own careers. Everyone already thinks cyclists cheat. They think Russians are dodgy. He's a self-righteous dog whistler that doesn't care one bit about the sport.

It's 2018. Time for a new thread Mr Wayne?

Cyclocross world champs this weekend - sen women 3pm sat, sen men 3pm sun.

UK hopes will be on Evie Richards and Tom Pidcock in U23 category were both will be favourites - Richards won a senior WC race this year so is capable of mixing it at the sharp end of the senior event, but wants to take things steady with her development.

Who've you got in the men's race Armel? Van der Poel all day or do you forsee an upset?

No I think it will be VDP unless he cracks under the pressure because it's a home-race. He has done that a few times in the past so you never know I suppose.

Some excellent photos from the CX world champs here:

A good example of the intentions of the likes of Dan Roan this week. He writes an article on the press interest in Froome's first race of the year, and then proceeds to ignore the actual racing entirely. He's interested in the gossip and titillation rather than the sport.

Will be very cold this weekend. Around freezing point + strong NE winds (=apparent temperature < 0 ° C). Sort of limits the contenders.
