Smith the obvious choice but not sure they'd want to reappoint him. Cummins or Lyon maybe?

Cricketers are especially childish in my experience.
It's all that hanging about in the pavilion waiting to bat or for the rain to stop. This leads to schoolboy humour and pranks.
There's no doing the Times crossword any more or reading Proust like Mike Brearley or whatever.

Sounds like Cummins is favourite for next captain. Would be interesting to see a quick bowler as captain. They tend to get overlooked too often.
