The amount of ducks for England this year must be absolutely enormous. Feels like there is at least a couple every innings.
You might be right about the spinning options Tim. I will say, though, that Parkinson has developed into a very accurate leg spinner who bowls very few bad balls, and still manages to get batsmen out on unresponsive pitches, as we've seen in some of Lancs' games this season.By far the best spinner available. England just don't have a good one.
There aren't better players available than the players in this side. They just aren't good enough and crack easily under pressure. Aussies will absolutely annihilate them with the lack of fight they show with the bat

Unfortunately, he can't bat and his fielding is mediocre even by county standards, and it's unknown whether he'd be as successful against the better quality batsmen there are in test cricket. Until he plays we won't ever know.
He certainly couldn't be any worse than Moeen was yesterday. He looked like the part-time bowler he once was.
Agree.I don't think they can accomodate a spinner who is a genuine no.11 until Stokes comes back. If they can have Stokes and Woakes in the side, then they can balance it. Until then I think you have to persist with Moeen.
I've not actually seen that much of Parkinson in red ball cricket, but he was very accurate in the ODI's. I do think it's easier to for a spinner to perform under Morgan though because he's such a good captain and there's far more belief in that dressing room.
England can't afford a long tail at the minute because the batting is extremely unreliable. I don't know how they fix that. if anything, I think the bowling is missing Archer more than a better spinner tbh.
Time for some new blood surely, even if it means losing badly
I've no idea about county cricket tbh, but we seem to have quite a few older players who we rely on...I don't think there are many options out there who are ready to play test cricket. England are missing two top players in Archer and Stokes and the balance of the team and the bowling isn't right. They will be struggling to find the right balance until both are available again, and that might be after the Ashes.
I would give Jimmy a rest next week, but that's just because I think he looked knackered yesterday. It's not because I think there's someone out there ready to step up.
