And as for Bairstow, I said it last week, this theory about him being a good player of spin has been well and truly exposed as utter nonsense. His Test career is surely over after this shambolic effort.

Rare you see such a one sided match between two supposedly evenly matched sides. This wasn't just a hammering but an awesome annihilation, absolute carnage that left India in shock and awe, stunned into wondering what exactly just hit them.

There are four games left and we have to see whether it's just the toss of a coin that decides the winner. The dew that hits bowling second makes the ball wet and difficult to grip for the bowlers and can come on nicely for the batsman. That's the only possible mitigation I can see for India, but if England win batting first next time then the psychological blow will be absolutely immense.

Eoin Morgan says he hasn't spoken to Alex Hales since his ban was imposed two years ago but has suggested there may be a way back for him for November's T20 World Cup in India. Hales again outperformed everyone in Australia's big bash and surely has to return to the squad later this year.

We all know what a large part James Vince being finally omitted from the side played in England's ODI World Cup win. In fact it was only the timely return of Jason Roy after a hamstring injury that allowed England to rid themselves of that useless liabilty called James Vince, England never looked back. They won the World Cup despite being only one loss from elimination, one change, a fit Roy back in for Harry Hopeless Vince fully revived their chances.

The T20 world cup starts in India this November and if they don't want another James Vince like scenario derailing all their best efforts, then the Nottinghamshire big hitter has to be available for Morgan either as an alternative opener or at least cover.

Avoid another James Vince like scenario - we got away with him losing us games in the ODI world cup but you need your best men not proven failures in international cricket.
