Squad for England's tour of India.

Very weak spin attack. Bess and Leach have heart but just aren’t that much of a threat. Not sure how Ali will do either.
Can see us getting a pumping here with some monumental batting collapses. A lot depends on our openers but I’d be surprised if Sibley and Burns are still opening on the final test.

A very strange decision to "rest" Bairstow after that test for me.

Love him to prove me wrong, but sibley seems to look out of his depth most times I've seen him.

Not entirely sure he’s “rested”. I just don’t think they see him as a red ball cricketer these days. He’s probably one of the first names down in a one day/ 20.20 squad still, but not Test cricket! Jos Buttler and Ben Foakes ( who I think has been a bit hard done by tbh, and is by some distance the best keeper!) are both better keepers, and in a Test match arena more reliable batsmen!

Yeah not sure why Bairstow would need a rest. He's not keeping wicket and hadn't played test cricket in a while. He's a pretty obvious pick in the sub-continent because his flaws are all against quicks who can nip it into him.

Not sure on the selection for tomorrow either. Maybe it's a cautious way of looking at it, but I'd have been looking to bring in Woakes as an extra all rounder with a 1 nil lead. With Curran at 7, it's a very long tail with Jimmy, Wood, Leach & Bess. And the openers looked all over the place last week too. I think Woakes would have been a better shout than Jimmy.

Bess is a decent number 8. I mean Woakes for Wood would be an option.

But when he’s just been recalled and performed well it sends a very strange message. If he’s not in their plans he probably shouldn’t have been selected to play in the last test really. Seeing as he was, and he did well, I’m not sure how he’s now found himself out of favour.

I agree it’s a strange one based on that one game, I just don’t get the impression he’s in their plans for the Test team moving forward!
