19 and 23 for Jennings is it?

Classic

A green seamers' wicket which is almost certainly absolutely completely different as different could be from the spin friendly low and flat wicket expected at Galle.

Something tells me providing the tourists with conditions so alien to that likely to be encountered in the tests may be part of a plan, something which would suit the home side very well indeed but maybe i'm being unduly cynical.

Attritional slow moving cricket expected in the tests with only the fourth and fifth days cracking up in the hot humid sauna like conditions.

Seamers won't get too much help at all when it counts and unfortunately good scores on a green seamer may not be too relevant either, the reverse with low scores are possibly equally as relevant.

According to the press the top seven, including Joe Denly, are likely to be unchanged so it's the four bowling places where there are question marks. Jos Buttler will keep the gloves.

Jack Leach will hope to bowl and come through the final warm up unscathed and with Dom Bess would be almost certain to lead the spin attack, Matt Parkinson has done his best to give serious consideration to playing all three spinners although they could easily rely on Joe Root and Denly for the third spinner.

Sam Curran looks certain to play and bat at eight with Stuart Broad possibly also likely to be in the picture. England planned for a real pace option but injuries to Wood and Archer has meant it's back to relying on the experience of Broad, Saqib Mamood provides something different but is likely to only be cover.

I remember when pre-season only started about 5 days before the first game and consisted of a few laps of Old Trafford, with Jack Simmons and a crippled Clive Lloyd battling it out for the wooden spoon. The fitter lads used to go for a jog around Stretford and Old Trafford, although I remember once overtaking a flagging Bernard Reidy as I walked up Chester Road.

Bernard Reidy, he was a big unit. lol

Joe Root saying they'll finalise their plans for the test lineup after the second warmup game

Sam Curran and Chris Woakes apparently battling it out for the one remaining spot in the lineup with this game a virtual bowl-off between the two.

Batsmen getting into form, England 354-3, Crawley 105, Root 90 n.o, Pope 84 n.o.

Could be interesting to see whether the series will take place.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic worsening globally, and after discussions with Sri Lanka Cricket, we have today made the decision to return our players to the U.K and postpone the forthcoming Test series between Sri Lanka and England.

At this time, the physical and mental wellbeing of our players and support teams is paramount. We will now look to bring them home to their families as soon as possible. These are completely unprecedented times, and decisions like this go beyond cricket.

We would like to thank our colleagues at Sri Lanka Cricket for their outstanding support and assistance throughout this situation. We look forward to returning to Sri Lanka in the very near future to fulfil this important Test series.
