'Councils should sell off public housing in expensive areas.'

Isn't it simple?

To use an example near me. A 1 bed property in Chelsea can easily fetch in excess of 1 million pounds. A 1 bed in Greenwich (far from a shabby area) meanwhile can go for maybe 200-250k.

So if they sold the property in Chelsea, they could then buy 4 in Greenwich.

What's so shocking about that?

Its not shocking becuase you know as well as i theres no way in hell that 4 houses would be bought some reason or another would come up to prevent it.

And diss Ethel at your peril, she went to ninja school :0

Welcome to universal credit. The best thing for the government is most of the literature on the subject is from the right wing press so majority of impressions of the benefit system are totally incorrect.

I never hear about the number of people who have been signed off was because they got sanctioned. People just assume they are working because the unemployment rate has fallen.

Places like liverpool, stoke, nottingham, newcastle and birmingham are going to get thousands of africans, former yugoslavian republic countries citizens and asains on their doorstop in 18 months time as they are going to be moved out of london as they cant afford to live there and placed in northern/midland cities. Its a form of social cleansing so the tories can clean up the electoral map and make it easier to get into power.

Like labour the governement are scewing figures but once universal credit kicks in next year its going to be very painful and alot of people are in for a shock as the maximum you can claim is 500 but thats in extreme extreme circumstances like living in london and being disabled with 10 children. most people wont be breaking 150pounds a week for all benefits.

the economy is going to tank as the private sector isnt increasing wages anytime soon.

Have you met Dave? You'd get on like a house on fire.

I was wondering what the Iron Lady would think about this policy. Then I remembered she's currently in the throes of alzheimer agonies, and the feeling was just like Fellaini had nodded it in again. :pint:

no matter what you think of her to be happy that she is suffering from a horrible disease says a lot about you as a human being.

I know what youre saying, but are you going to be the one who goes along to 78 year old Ethel,a war hero no less, who lives in a nice 5 bedroom house,a house who she shared with her husband of 55 years till his death, their 4 kids who where killed in terrible accidents in the garden and the graves of the families 78 dogs from a lifetime..are you the one to say time to go????

Devide and rule i the tory way ghettos are created that way and this sort of policy could very easily create them in no time.

What are you babbling about?

Took the words out of my mouth.

Took the words out of my mouth.

You really have no sense of humour at all do you:huh: its a jokey post in a thread thats very very serious there isnt anywhere near enough social housing in this country both Labour and the Tories have shamefully ignored the issue relying on the private sector more and more, with their inflated rents that they charge, now no doubt you'll hit back with "but with this policy theyll be given the cash from all the house sales.." you're not stupid far from it and you know as well as i do that money would not reach the social housing sector, councils would deflect it away to keep council taxes down and thus win votes.

Another thing when they mention a policy like this they keep it faceless but paint it so those in need will benefit from this (or other similar) policies i prefer to put a name to this sort of thing and yup was utterly exaggerated but when all is said and done a policy like this is social engineering nothing more, nothing less and i do find that laughable.
