Tories fed up living next to dss scum. Sell the nice houses to those that can afford them. To the ghettos with the rest of 'em. Tory [Poor language removed].

Couldnt agree more.. £950 a month rent I pay.. gladly pay the council £500 !!

£950 a month  . My mortgage is one-third of that. Selling the houses will only send the tenants to private landlords who can charge £950 a month. Which the council will have to pay if they are unemployed. Cheaper to keep the tenants in council housing

My deal is about £100 per month BELOW the average here.. As you rightly state, I really would be better off signing on / sick.. Crazy world.

Sell off the social housing, which is already loaded to breaking point, and where do the tenants go? Absolve themselves of any responsibility for the have nots, whilst further lining the pockets of the haves. It's the Tory way.

The family two doors from me me don't work at all ( Me, and my eldest two all work, btw ). And they don't seem to be going short of anything. Taxis everywhere , holidays abroad each year. I work full-time and had to make do with a week in Wales. The thing is, though. If I was to suddenly become unemployed, I lose my home

I have mixed feelings on this,,, I bought my ex local authority house VERY cheaply just before they done away with the huge discounts,,,,, I still live in my house but the surrounding area is quite affluent as it is out of town....i took advantage of a scheme on offer and am not gonna appologise for it. But, recently I have been looking for private rentals ( for personal reasons ha ha ) and I simply can't afford to rent in the area i live.. crazy rental prices to be honest.

No need to apologise. My in-laws did the same thing. Then after 4 yrs sold it . Made enough to clear any debts they had.

Why apologise ? anyone would do the same mate..
For me, the problem lies with single people living in 4 bed council paid for houses.. If you take up right to buy.. no issues whatsoever..

that's a housing policy issue. Shouldn't be confused with a housing stock issue.

We grew up in a council house In Ellesmere Port from 1969. About 7 yrs ago me dad, a widower, gave up the 3 bed house he had lived in ( with the family from '69 ) so a family could live in it. He was waiting to get a pensioners bungalow. Like you say, though, some stay in their 3-4 bed houses which they don't need. Fair enough, if they have lived there for decades they should be allowed to stay if they so wish. It's when you see a couple , or single person, with no kids living in a house they don't really need
