my experience of travel to leeds yesterday.
trains in both directions rammed, shoulder to shoulder.
pubs in leeds city centre rammed bars 6 deep, shoulder to shoulder.
elland rd stadium, away end packed out, like standing on the gladys in the 70s!
no checks, restrictions,or any indication covid ever existed, seen about 2/3 mask all day!
maybe we are back to normal!

I think for the general public we are albeit with the masked part there's the element of being in the football/youth microcosm; masks are still fairly common.

Hopefully, the increased level of vaccinations and treatments will keep infection, hospitalisation and death rates low and we can continue to return to normality.

Nevertheless, I do think it's prudent to be slightly cautious over what will happen over the winter, so we should continue to push masks and vaccines etc.

I know the NHS are still feeling the impact from the last eighteen months (tiredness, non-COVID conditions etc.), which is a concern in the wider sense.

Fingers crossed we get to March and April with no real serious issues and then, hopefully, we'll be in the clear.

Victoria's 'Chairman Dan' is at it again
Suspended Parliament for 'health reasons' but allows Union offices to still open.
And
About a 1000 from each side of the QLD/NEW border 'stormed' the border despite the police and swapped places then later went back over.

I think restrictions on events, bringing back social distanced hospitality and perhaps even lockdowns are inevitable this winter. If this is what the summer looks like even with high vaccination rates then winter won't be any better.

We've been let out for a play over summer, like schoolchildren., essentially swapping over with them. When they go back and it all starts going wrong again, I can see nothing but creeping restrictions until next late spring/early summer again

If that happens we'll have to accept winter lockdowns every year. Its very unlikely that we'll get in a better position than we are in now.

I was in the supermarket earlier, I would estimate the majority of folks over the age of about 35 were wearing masks, and the majority under 35 didn't have a mask on
It's along those lines that I was thinking or other demographics who commonly do or do not wear masks hence not being swayed by the microcosm of football.

Personally, I hope that mask wearing becomes fairly common in the long-run as it may help reduce the transmission of other aerosol carrying diseases.

I don't wear one in the pub and didn't wear one for the match last week for obvious reasons, but I put one on in the shops; in work, we still regularly wear them.

Highly doubt it will become a thing in the long run. Every week I go to the supermarket and the percentage of people wearing masks goes down. If things remain the same and theres no more big waves of covid barely anyone will have them on by next summer.

All rules and restrictions have been lifted..

Just popping in to say that thanks to all the dip****s on both sides of the Atlantic who are too cowardly or outright dumb to have gotten the vaccine, we had to cancel all our honeymoon plans/bookings yesterday, 3 weeks before wedding, after Virgin pulled all the flights.

Far from top of the pile when it comes to the suffering COVID has inflicted but yeah, cheers.

Not fair to blame that on folks not getting vaccinated. What have they got to do with your flight? And "too cowardly or too dumb" ??

Get a grip.

Your target shouldn't be fellow citizens, it should be Virgin and/or the government.
