Conor McAleny.

People have a right to be sceptical of a 22 year old who barely has any first team appearances to his name, for whatever reason be that injury or finding your niche, some players are just late bloomers.

Not saying McAleny will defo make the squad but I wouldn't write him off yet.

By that argument we may as well consider Connor as dead.

All players who aren't first team regulars are dead at age 23 from now on.
No it's not at all. You're clearly (for one reason or another) being either deliberately antagonistic or somewhat blinkered; possibly both.

What I said is Wright is 'more likely' to be the exception....and to be fair I stand by that as he is. There are the exceptions with the likes of Wright.

He came from the abyss of the lower Sunday leagues and showed he was actually a top player. But how often does that actually happen?

You could even mention the likes of Lambert or Vardy from the lower divisions, but at least they were knocking them in at that levels at his age.

However, I would say in the mainstay that most Premier League quality strikers of note will have shown 'inklings' of such potential when younger.

Has McAleny? Arguably no if you're going simply from his stats. That obviously doesn't mean he will not and I certainly hope he does make it!

Yet, I would be more inclined to suggest that he'll most probably (probability) not be able to step it up: maybe that's just a cautious assessment.

Cautious optimism is fine and he shouldn't be written off, however I think some people are getting beyond themselves. Jose Baxter anyone?

I would love for him to do well, but it is unlikely.
He did have the extra weeks training in Austria which means that he is much closer to full fitness than most of the rest of the squad.
