just done a systems check and apparently my graphics card isn't up to it

What do you have? I have a GTX 850M (yeah, a laptop) and I should be able to play it.

I am well under the minimum spec for Elite: Dangerous Horizons, but it still runs around 30fps on the surface of planets.

Those minimums aren't the minumum that will run it, it will be a target frame rate at medium/high quality in the big jock off battles.

Honestly, @neil999 you must have an old card if you can't meet the minimum of INTEGRATED GRAPHICS!!!!!!

Passmark scores for those GPU's are as follows:

Intel HD4000 - 451
GTS 450 1549
HD 5770 - 1684

My laptop has the GTX 850M which scores a 1409. Nowt special, but enough to run the game.

The processor and RAM will be an important factor. Also, based on the fact you have a GT 630M, I am gonna guess your screen resolution is 1366x768?

Yeah dude, here is one of the late gen Core 2 Duo's (rated at 3Ghz, the minumum for the game)

You can see that your processor beats it in all the actual performance categories .

Also worth mentioning, the integrated graphics on your CPU is the Intel HD4000, so you do, officially meet the minimum spec (make sure you are running the games with the GT630M and not the HD 4000, because unless your system is told to, half the time it tries running games using integrated graphics)
