Bought Rome 2 on the cheap. Very disappointed so far.

I played 3 Total War games so far

Rome 1 and Medieval 2: Both amazing.
Empire. Meh. Didn't like it.

It simply has no atmosphere. Rome 1 had great music, and I loved those short video sequences. All gone. Should I try Shogun 2 or Attila instead?

Yes, Shogun 2 is very very good.

I haven't watched that, but because you and @Tubey hold this guy in such high regard, I have watched a few of his videos. He has some very good opinions and raises many valid points, I just don't like the way he goes about presenting them.

It was a nice gimmick at first, being a Germanic tribe in a deep foggy forest, but it just stopped being fun after 5 minutes.

I like Rome 2 and think Empire with mods is the best of the series, but thats just my preference for the time periods. Medievel 2 had the best atmosphere, the music fitted the game perfectly.
