Computer games.

Sounds like Sony absolutely wiped the floor with Microsoft yesterday. I have always had a Playstation but my brother and his mates are usually Xbox, however they are probably going to convert to Playstation this time around. Can see many more people doing the same. Microsoft have got it all completely wrong in my opinion on many levels.

Isn't the Playstation more for serious gamers whilst the Xbox is more of a uni house thing and a few social games of FIFA or COD?

The "Console War" will come down to which console has the best games. Always will.
Well ... not always ...

... although I certainly see your point to some extent. That said, I'm not sure there are enough exclusive titles to sway the casual gamer.

Fans of Halo, Gears, Fable and other MS exclusives aren't going to move to Playstation because of the strict DRM issue.
Sure I don't think anyone is suggesting MS won't sell a single console. But you win a console battle like you win an election: in the middle. The average casual gamer will likely go with the one they hear is very slightly better on specs, cheaper and less of a hassle in terms of restrictions.

Unless MS has some game changer up their sleeves I'd be shocked if PS doesn't win year one. That said it's a long battle full of unknowns (if one system bricks as often as the 360 in its early days it could completely change what we expect to happen "on paper").

Disagree that it's about the games.

Both consoles will have the vast majority of 'AAA' titles, and both have a decent number of exclusives. I'd say the price difference and total lack of DRM will sway people massively to the Playstation. I'm already swinging towards it and i currently own a 360 and would have happily stayed with MS prior to this stupidity.

This is really the truth, despite the obligatory E3 emphasis on exclusives.

95% of my favourite games from this generation have been on multiple platforms.

Err...yeah.

That's why it's good for me as a keen Blu Ray Collector.

Ah right, so they're allowing multi-region Blu-ray's (films) on the PS4 then? Absolutely boss if so!

I just assumed they meant the games weren't locked down, like they weren't on the PS3.
