Computer games.

Garbage may be a bit much, but I hated the RPGish/survival/sandbox direction they went in. Not a fan when they needlessly merge genres.

To be fair Skyward Sword and Twilight weren’t quite up to par with MM/Orcarina/Windwaker, so they probably wanted to try something new. BOTW is way overrated for me.
Agreed my friend. Agreed.

Elite is the definative VR experience. Full stop. You do NOT get a sense for the size of the ships until you whack a VR set on and look around. Even the sidewinder suddenly feels BIG!

And as for the experience.....do not get fixated on thinking "oh my life will be complete when I get ship 'x'"...because it won't. Just fly around, try out all the different stuff you can do and enjoy the ride. I have been playing since 2014 and I am only Trade Elite. Yeah, I have a bunch of money and all the ships, but once I got the biggest ones, I just don't fly them. Sure, they pack a ton of firepower, but they just aren't fun to fly.....because they are so big (all that mass to move around......it doesn't happen fast).

You will find yourself having much more fun in the smaller, more maneuverable ships. So go do a big of mining, or bounty hunting....or slap on that FSD interdictor and start pirating. There is plenty of fun to be had in this game, it just isn't handed to you on a plate.

Oh, and last advice.....don't fly without rebuy.

cheers!

im on my way to building up my funds to have the base rebuy total and much more. i think ill stick with the sidewinder for quite a while and upgrade to the max.

a lot more trading to do before i start tackling mining and pirating i think!

on the VR im on ps4 so no elite vr for me...at least not yet. but at some point ill grab no mans sky and see what thats like

I'm not really of the opinion you have to be good at games to review them - indeed there's a lot of value to being average, because the vast majority of people who buy games are average, so you are reflecting the experience they'll have with the game as opposed to eSports pros, who are a minority.

That said, IGN simply pander to publishers. I agree that YouTubers are leagues ahead in terms of honesty and, to be honest, quality.

Look up Filip Miucin for an example of how IGN do the bare minimum - keeping publishers happy is the desired end result; a quality review is of no consequence.

where do you go for your gaming reviews and news and such? i check kokaku regularly but they dont do many reviews

i had a sub to Games TM until they died a death recently. used to buy Edge years back also

Worthabuy on YouTube, although he is biased against games that require a controller. He famously hates Dark Souls for example. Jim Sterling's impressions. Not much else in terms of quality - Angry Joe is awful these days.

The 'traditional' websites have been poor for a long time, can't trust what they say. Kotaku/Polygon etc. too often add political spin on reviews instead of reviewing the actual game.

I can't believe they haven't implemented that!

IGN makes me laugh. It doesn't matter how bad a Triple A game is, they'll give it at least 7/10.

Fraud of a website. Basically a publisher mouthpiece paid to do their bidding.

Terrible website. They took 3 weeks to review PES and even then they hid it on their site. EA have them in their pocket.

It would be great. I like how you describe it....that you get the real sense of how big the ship is.

It’s so good to be playing it again. I still remember reading some NES mag review of it and it getting 98% or something ridiculous and I was dying to play it. I think any games we got had to be ones myself and two of my brothers agreed on, so it was a year or so before I managed to get it for a birthday or something. Years later we had Frontier on the PC. The big galaxy stayed spread out on the floor for months.

Is there particular points of the galaxy where you’d find more active players instead of just CPU?

Unexpectedly got a Switch for my birthday

Any idea what size of SD card I should be looking for?
I haven't had to bother with one yet although I have bought most of the games as a physical copy rather than download. So far the 32GB internal has been fine.

As a guide, Zelda BOTW is about 13GB as a download and I'm guessing that is the biggest game available. Super Mario Odyssey is about 6GB I think. So will depend on how many games you are likely to get and whether you will download or buy a physical copy.

Been absolutely loving Hellblade this weekend - picked it up cheap on PS4, and as someone who suffers with BPD and mental health issues I’ve been astounded at how accurate and well-done the portrayal is in this game - for the price it’s at now I’d highly recommend giving it a go (worth bearing in mind though, the game is insanely intense and borderline horror at some points)

Gamecentral on the metro site is boss. Completely independent from the website.

They used to be based on Teletext all those years ago. Always honest reviews as they don't base a 7/10 meaning bad for example. Score is meaningless compared to the write up
