Computer games.

Fired up the new Pes and I felt a bit let down by it. The gameplay itself is decent again, but there's nothing else about it. Pretty much the same tired old game modes and recycled commentary. The commentary is actually worse now because there's only one guy doing it.

Are they doing another "Journey" like mode on FIFA again this year?

No mate, the Journey ended last year. This year it's all about 'Volta' which is essentially an in-game reboot of FIFA Street. On the demo, it was a bit crap to be honest.

Looking forward to FIFA all the same, pre-loading it today, the gameplay is much slower this year and the changes to the shooting mechanics felt great in the demo. Lots of decent changes to career mode too so that should be interesting.

Played the demo and it hasn't inspired me to buy it yet again. The problem I have with PES is the keepers. They still dive in the same way they did in International Superstar Soccer Pro in the 90s. Rigid and clunky. PES in recent years is all about the presentation (and in fairness, on that front it's much better than FIFA) but really lets itself down when it comes to the mechanics. It's got better in recent years, but hasn't caught up to FIFA.

I'm really enjoying PES 2020 but that might just be as I have got pretty bored of FIFA recently. I like the fact you have to be more considered in your build up and can't just get it to the wings and run. I like the mis-kick thing which stops you being able to ping passes about with no real thought for where you are facing or passing to.

The commentary is rubbish but I play with it low anyway so doesn't bother me. Also I haven't played it properly for a few years so quite looking forward to having a good go at Master League this year.

I've never liked FIFA Street so not bothered about Volta at all. Will have a go on it but can't really see what they have done to it to make it something I'll want to play a lot.

The gameplay itself is good, I'm just a bit bored of everything else. I know it sounds weird because the game itself should obviously be the most important part, but it feels like I've been doing the same old crap with it year after year. Why can't they hire a couple of goons with a bit of imagination to build a few new and exciting game modes?

I got bored of fifa by 1996 but then 98 was brilliant. has just been same game the last 20 years now.

Went and got three new games this week and delighted with them all.

Pes 2020, still taking a bit of getting used to but it's quality, first time I've had the option file good to go on release date, happy days.

F1 2018, taking a bit of time to figure out what difficulty to put the AI on so that's its competitve, think I've finally settled on the right settings, brilliant racing game, takes about forty minutes to get through a race weekend.

And red dead 2, the game I have spent the least time on, through chapter one, looks an amazing game, one I'll be well capable of passing away a day or two on no doubt.
