Reidy's Bottle Of Grecian

The Unobstructed View
winter balls actually.

is winter not drab enough without the garish yellow and purple sphere that we use ?

do we really need to use it every week ? it's not like we have drifts down the bullens rd or a glacier encroaching between the church and mainstand, surely we could just get it out for games with a dusting of the white stuff. on tv the white one is far more visible as well.

I'm a fan of the old white ball. Why does everything have to be multi coloured these days? Bring back the plain white ball thats what I say (y)

do your bat powers not enable you to flit between the raindrops, or pedal so fast that the water evaporates before contact due to the drag coefficent forming a heat shield around you ?

while we're on the subject, does the premier league still use the conventional 16 panel (or however many) design for footbals, the one with all the hexagons and octagons, instead of the newer teamgeist design (the one introduced in the 06 world cup).

whenever i see the ball on tv, it looks like the traditional type, but i would think that the best league in the world would be able to afford the newer design.

btw, i had one of those teamgeists (myself and 4 friends split the cost cos it was pretty pricey), until one of my friends was shooting in his backyard, and he shot one narrowly over the bar of his goal and it hit a tree and punctured.

remarkably, the ball still keeps most of it's shape, despite the puncture, and if you squeeze it to let the air out, it still self inflates nearly the whole way up.

sounds more like a poltergeist to me than a ball. all these weird panel designs though are altering the dynamics of the ball, the flight, the bend, the way your foot goes into the ball when you kick it etc etc etc, too many different balls around tbh.
if you think it makes no difference then i'll give a rugby union example, in super14 (12 at the time) they introduced a new ball, same shape same size, a kiwi called andrew mehrtens who had about a 95% success rate had major probs, as did all the other kickers due to the flight being different, cricketers have similar probs with different brands of ball.
lets start dictating to the manufacturers what is expected instead of them presenting new products that aren't universal.
