If it's backed by legislation, they may have no choice.

Furthermore, how many players does this apply to? There are very few key 1st team players with over 20 league appearances who's contract is expiring at that time.

Worst case scenario, they leave and the clubs are without a player for the final 3 or 4 games that they were going to lose anyway.
It literally cannot happen. It would be highly illegal to say that anybody must continue in the employ of an organisation once their fixed term contract has ended. There is absolutely no way it could happen None. So stop embarrassing yourself you absolute clown.

What have I missed.
If you're a closet rawkite, they're reopening the league to allow the rs to win it. If you're not, nada to 30th April, and we have 2 months to get everything finished in otherwise it's time for a legal sh1t5torm.

A barrage of paragraphs is coming your way mate, which obviously means he's won because paragraphs are for clever people.

Fair enough, so let's assume you're right. And those players out of contract leave their respective clubs on the 30th June.

It still only affects 9 regulars across 6 clubs and, by that point, probably only for the last 3 or 4 games anyway.

It's a bit dramatic to suggest that would cause a huge legal nightmare.

Where have you got that from? Why do you think football is going to resume by April/May?

What if Ryan Fraser came to Everton on a free and scored the winner against them on the last day to send them down? They'd just go "ah well, them's the rules, back to the Championship we go"?

Just for clarity.

Fraser, Willian, Vertonghen, Pedro, Giroud, Silva, Hendrick, Lundstram and Westwood are the only first team regulars out of contract this summer.

It affects six teams. And it only affects them if those players point blank refuse to stay for what will probably be the remaining 3 or 4 games of the season.

that really doesn't matter, what if a team has loads of injuries and have to play a load of youths (i.e. not first team regulars in your eyes), who are all going out of contract. They just leave then? A team who started the season thinking they had a good squad of 28 now has a squad of 10 because they were planning on doing a mass recruitment in the summer. The FA can't make them give those youths contracts and the club would say "we don't want to keep hold of them so don't want to give them a 3 year contract to play 4 games". The out of contract players themselves will be blocked from doing a lot of activity that is required for them to find a new club too.

It doesn't matter if you only see it as "just a few people affected", it's got to be fair and equal for everyone.

Not surprised to hear that voiding the season wasn’t discussed, no club will want to incur the wrath of the FA darlings. But make no mistake, the closer we get to August/September without a resolution, despite the ‘indefinite’ extension, it will begin to pop up

What about the lower leagues who rely on those loan players to make a team?

It's easy to extend a contract by a month but loan players would be a nightmare for how many there are
