You asy that, and a premier league level it's probably true.

How do the likes of Accrington Stanley, Tranmere etc pay their players/staff without matchday income? All a big fuss really, Euros will get postponed, play the remaining games over summer and then have a smaller gap between end and new season.

Someone I work with knows someone at a Premier League board, said the potential of 2 games a week from the first time they can start playing a game is possibility.
Yeah, it was a sweeping generalisation I suppose. I think the prem clubs could come back sooner and play behind closed doors if needed, but as you say the lower leagues rely on gate receipts just to keep going. This is the tightrope governments, organisations and associations have to walk when trying to work this mess out.

Yes I agree. The PL are very quickly going to be in an enormous black hole.

It's fine BT and sky saying they won't discount prices, but how long until Pubs and subscribers just start cancelling. Likewise big sponsors like banks are taking a talking. Kit retailers are going to be massively down too. I mean for a start Liverpools deal with Adidas is heavily incentivised, they will not be hitting any of the targets to move beyond even the basic (and quite small) initial payments. Thats best case, worst case is they withdraw altogether when they see their own brand is in big trouble.

The PL is in enormous trouble, as in truth it's most exposed. It's most dependant upon sponsorships and TV money and has the biggest contracts.

That being said, at a practical level, if football re-commences in 2020 at a period where it's difficult to complete a full season there is going to be enormous pressure to potentially just finish this one. Or maybe not, maybe the conversation will have moved on? It's hard to avoid that though.
Sky will be one of the if not the first things to go if people are out of work and relying on social welfare. The economy is looking it is going to take an unreal hit, much worse than 2008.

Wonder what they are going to do with regards to next seasons Season Tickets? Ive not renewed yet, seems little point when we dont even no for certain there will be one

At the moment finishing season 19/20 is a big issue, understandably so.

As the weeks and months go by this importance will lessen.

More important issues like death, health , job losses, economy collapse will be what people are talking about, not who won the 19/20 Premiership title.

Exactly. Give them the title, and then let's get on with getting healthy

I know, same with the extra work it gives emergency services, its just not right, if Liverpool were real socialists they themselves would be calling it off for the good of the people

The way I look at it is, if everyone could be honest for a moment and answer the 1 hypothetical question... If there was a cold, logical decision to be made in any random season, for any random team, with any amount of points separating top from 2nd but still not mathematically certain, would you cancel and void, cancel and award the current state of play, or continue at the possible expense of thousands of lives?

The big thing seems to always boil down to how unfair it would be on Liverpool. The fact they haven't won it in 30 years, the fact they have had an insane year of presumably drug Fuelled dominance that in itsself is almost as unlikely as the outbreak and potential cancellation. The fact the other teams have faltered so much, in some cases, completely uncharacteristically.

My point is, if they were 5 points clear, they would most likely still say they deserved it, that they had earned it. If they had won it regularly over the last decade, they might still feel aggrieved, but probably wouldn't care as much as they do. If they had had a terrible year, they would want it cancelled. If it Was Everton or Manchester United at the top, you can bet your life they would want it cancelled.

The misfortune for them is it has come so late on in the season, after they have started to believe, after they had their flags, Tshirts and scarves prematurely printed, after the ridiculous run, the insane points total amassed, after the 30 year wait. Its all very unfortunate, but at the end of the day, it's nobodies fault, and it's a complete fluke, an act of god, not an act of sabotage.

What it boils down to, is there is still an entire 1/4 of the season to play and nothing has been mathematically determined. The point gap should not play any part of the decision. Norwich could still finish above Everton. Man utid could still finish 2nd. Any number of teams could still be relegated. And in any other year, they may well be safe by March.

Its unlucky for them that they have been so dominant in a season that is doomed to not be complete. But they shouldn't be rewarded because they were close. That is the emotional decision, not the fair/logical one.

Those RS big mouths, Thompson and Daglish are saying give our neighbours the trophy anyway.

Not for me, make the season null and void no cups, promotion or relegation. Start a fresh in August using the same team set ups in the divisions as of August 2019.
