Crossing isn't the aim; it's playing off the striker to feet.
Benteke makes sense in that regard, but you then need movement around him.
Benteke wouldn't be the worst signing in the world (that quite literally would be Andy Carroll), but I'd take Giroud over him any day of the week. The problem with Benteke is that he barely moves. Yes, the ball sticks to him, but just like you needed more than goals from Lukaku, you need more than just shielding the ball in one spot too; our forward will have to drag players around too and Benteke just doesn't offer that.
You spend years slating Lukaku as being counter productive to the bigger team picture, then advocate Benteke.
If ever a player needed a team setting up solely for himself, it's Benteke.
Liverpool took a punt, it backfired - as it would for any top team.
Big fish, leave him in his pond.
