I reckon Benteke would be a great signing and at a great age.
Arguably the best Premier League striker in the air and knows how to score. Having a proper target man would really help players like Rooney, Sandro and Klassen score goals and it'd help against the big teams as we'll be able to retain posession better, which will help take a lot of pressure off our defence.
I think a lot of you are underestimating how much Palace will want for him though. I think they'll expect at least 50m to consider selling him, imo.

Agreed given what Lukaku went for and what Sig is being quoted at. Even if Lukaku is twice the player that Benteke is (and I'm not sure he is even that) then 50m is the ballpark figure.

In a vacuum Benteke would be a fine addition. I think he could do the job Koeman will want done and pitch in 15 goals or so.
The problem is, much as with Gylfi, he will simply cost too much for the return. You think Palace will want less than 50? I don't.
He, nor Gylfi, are worth 50. Time for Walshy to roll up his sleeves and head to the continent. For the same 100m that gets you Gylfi and Benteke he could probably come back with Jose/Bakambu, Forsberg and a cb like Lemos - probably with enough left over to pick up a LB like Robinson. Be out less on wages too....

I liked him and thought he was a crackin' player before he joined the RS, went down hill there. There's defo a player in there.

Just saying, people are claiming he is Lukaku's replacement. He's nothing like Lukaku and therefore can't be his replacement. It's not like for like. The style is different and Koeman would have to change tactics to play into Benteke strengths. Would need a new left back who can bomb forward and another winger.

WOW, grump.
His scoring record is excellent though, 15 goals in a Palace team that only came to life in the last quarter of the season. He got 9 in 15 games for the RS and his record at Villa was sublime.
What he could do in a team featuring Rooney Siggy and overlapping full backs wets the appetite.
