Chopping and changing at the back

I can't think of one successful team that chops and changes at the back so much, especially the two centre backs yet Sam and Ronald before him haven't stuck with a settled pair all season. Williams/Holgate were doing ok then he rotates and we lose, we beat Leicester with Jags and Keane he throws it out of the window for an entirely new back five! That along with weak or constantly rotating full backs means there's no consistentcy and confidence in a regular backline and understanding between the players. So this, coupled with a lack of protection from Morgan in particular (our best midfield is Gana/Davies//Rooney stick to it!!!!!!)we end up with a horror show like today and Vs Spurs. Playing five at the back with a player who has barely trained with the other two was asking for trouble against Arsenal who have runners from deep and the worst change of all.

When was the last time he played Williams & Holgate together? They looked to be doing a job for a while and then he started tinkering and screwed it up. We've barely kept a clean sheet since.

Utter shambles. You can't keep changing your central defensive pairing every game and expect them to develop an understanding and consistency.

Where was Jags today ? Can't help thinking he would have been important to keep it organised, especially as it seemed that we went 5 at the back just to shoehorn Mangala in who was awful. He left the wrong player out. Williams was also terrible.

Kenny and Martina as wing backs ? Are you having a laugh SA ?

This is what blows my mind. Back 5 with Seamus at RB at least gives attacking width but JJK is clearly more defensive minded and lacking attacking skills that Seamus possesses. As far as LWB goes, if you're gonna finally play Garbutt, surely with a back 3 against a team that just lost their main wide threats would be ideal. Doesn't work then hook him at half time, couldn't have been much worse than today.

That’s the big problem. Different team every game . Threw Mangala into a five man defence that nobody knew what to do or who to pick up ... what does fat Sam expect other than what happened 1-0 and then 2-0 down it clearly wasn’t working but he just carried on regardless .. almost to me like he threw the game looking ahead to supposedly easier games to come. Just not good enough from him and also from most of the players !!!! Need to get this sorted quickly !

Even the unsuccessful teams don't change their set up as much as us.

Never been a fan of changing a defence if it's doing well, how can players push on & gain in confidence if they are dropped the next week?????

..I always say our team slection is a bit like moving deckchairs on the Titanic in that it doesn’t matter who plays as the outcome is usually the same.

What we need is partnerships. What we need is blend. What we need are players who compliment each other. Coleman/Walcott looks something, we need to let other partnerships gel and that can be forged by giving them game time.

I'm assuming the knobhead won't work on anything in training and will just show them a video of whoever last beat Palace seem as that's what he tried to do yesterday

Here's a novel idea you fat headed disgrace......earn your 6m wedge by coming up with your own ideas, utilising the players you have available to you and not trying to mimic tactics from a team in the bottom 3 you gravy slurping horrible knobhead.
