2025/26 Charly Alcaraz

He hasn’t got an all around game strikes me one of those things you say to sound like you’ve got a real justification for something but it doesn’t really mean anything.

He started a bunch of games in December and was solid in most of them imo.
It's called playing and understanding what i watch, sorry if that sounds disrespectful, but that is the truth..

I haven't changed my opinion on the lad, and he hasn't done anything to do that.

I really like him for what he offers, he just doesn't offer enough as a starter because his weaknesses get found out.
Why do you think his passing always ended up going back to pickford.

You use a player for his best attributes, his best attribute is a burst of energy at tired legs.

Yes Alcaraz is the only one in this team that struggles with passing forward. I think he passes backwards because this team is a complete mess in possession. He does quite well in spite of it.

One of the funniest things about football is the people who think because they step out with their mates for a match on Sunday morning before they all head off to the pub for a pint or two and then get ready to head to work Monday that genuinely means they understand how high level elite athletes play the sport.

You haven’t change your opinion and you know what I can’t fault you for that, the actual manager of the football club has not altered his opinion of anyone in the squad this season either. Who would let new evidence impact their thinking anyway?

I did say I wasn't trying to be disrespectful, i'm pretty positive I have never ever said about my playing football means my opinion should matter more than someone else's, but you caught me with what you seem to see, so I responded..

Sorry, that was bad on my part..

A more respectful question.
Who would you say he could replace as a starter given his alround game..

He’s a better attacking player than Armstrong and KDH so there you go. I don’t like him on the right but I think you can do it with a real fullback. This of course won’t happen either because the manager is not willing to change his opinions. Frankly the entire team needs a reset and when that happens (read: Moyes is sacked) I’d hope a new manager would see the quality here and figure it out. It’s far more likely Alcaraz is gone before that can happen.

But the simple answer is he’s our best attacking midfielder and he should play more in that role than anyone else.

Moyes coaching?

Moyes coaching?
Moyes tactics certainly doesn't help players once he throws random lineups out, but you can naturally see what certain players offer.
Garner without Gana
O'Brien CB
KDH more central

Charly - ?
I can't see what more he offers other than around the 18yrd box, other than getting bums off the seat and an extra boost in the team.
Starting spot - he loses that burst.
More deficiency's than strengths..

Forget the 10 position

KDH Garner Armstrong
( He doesn't come close to that midfield.

Just my opinion though, just have to see how it plays out..

I think why we bump heads and you get reactions out of me, is because you don't explain what it is you see in players, so i have nothing to go by when I read a post.

You stamp a ground on a player but don't give a summary of what you're actually basing it on, seeing in a player.

You done it with KDH aswell
And Garner

And probably plenty more.

He's one of few players in the squad that typically looks to pass and move the ball forward, his ability to initiate attacks should be utilized from the beginning, I would even be open to suggestion as an impact sub but Moyes usually doesn't bring someone on until the 80th minute now, so not a lot of time to affect the match

Brother you said earlier “he doesn’t have an all around game” with zero explanation.

Alcaraz very simply generates shots. That’s why he’s good and that’s why we need him. He is one of very few in our squad (basically him and Ndiaye) who can consistently generate a shot for themselves. He also does a solid job of setting up others. To me he generally understands where the ball needs to move to open teams up. I mean the equalizer yesterday is an example of this. The level of intent is at a higher level than anyone else in that spot.

I also think he does a much better job than anyone else at taking risks. We need it. We have a team of maddeningly safe players with a maddeningly safe manager and that’s how you end up near the bottom in goals.

To zag on a famous Top Gun quote I do like him because he’s dangerous. He’s unsafe and we need it.

We'll just have to see how it plays out, because we just see 2 different players.
All we are going to do is hit the same point over him.

The thing is i will say what i think his strengths and weaknesses are, but others only accept that his weakness is Moyes.

So there is no give on a debate

This is probably going to get a nuclear level reaction but what has Armstrong actually done to suggest we shouldn’t send him back to Preston? He’d be back on loan if it was me.

He'd benefit if we played more in the final third... like that'll happen.

You have definitely sparked a fire with that call, but I'll leave that to others to fight with you on that one, we've had our head bump for the day..

Alcaraz is definitely not a better attacking player than Dewsbury-Hall. And it's not even close.

Alcaraz carries the ball well but his decision making and final pass are severely lacking
